Miami does get to sit next to them at MAC meetings for a long time, and hanging their hockey programs out to dry could make life difficult for Miami's other sports if there's a 2 school block that hates your athletic departments guts. Plus, 8 teams would be a more stable conference overall than a 6 team one, especially if the Irish don't join the NCHA.

Something tells me hockey doesn't get mentioned much at MAC meetings.

Sorry, but that article really got under my skin.......I didn't join the forum just for that post.....I've been following for years and often thought about joining, particularly since the realignment......and the stuff off the beaches in Lake Michigan is dead alewives and cladophera.

Do Western's agressive marketing campaigns suggest that they would have done anything different had the roles been reversed and they were one ones holding a NCHC invite? If Western and Miami had been invited and BGSU on the outside do you think Western would have declined? Begrudging Miami would be a tad bit pathetic and hypocritical.

I would hope that WMU and BGSU's athletic departments are more mature and professional than blaming Miami for making the same move they are trying to/would have made. Not one of those schools were in a position in July to decline an invitation to that conference.

I'm not blaming Miami of Ohio of anything for jumping to the NCHC. I'm just pointing out a couple of reasons why Miami might want to have those schools in the same league with them besides them just being shorter roadtrips for the Redhawks.

It probably doesn't happen much at GLIAC or NSIC meetings either, but I'm guessing its a lot of the same people at those hockey schools that end up going to meetings for their basketball programs end up going to the same meetings for Hockey as well. And well, aside from Minny-Duluth, the GLIAC and NSIC schools are going to have all of their schools in the same league.

Hell, isn't it the Big Ten schools putting their hockey programs in the same conference because they all play football together the reason why this whole mess started???

Nope. The Big Ten schools were doing whats best for college hockey and making room in 2 conferences for expansion and room for a team like UAH. Really, they should be commended for their actions.

NCHC on the other hand was just a couple of schools feeling like the little sisters and wanted to show they can be big boys too.

I disagree. They did it for the (potential) money. There were no noble intentions. Noble intentions would be the CCHA accepting UAH in the first place.

That being said, I agree with your take on the NCHC. They did it because they wanted to outgrow their Underoos. They got mad, and took what was left of their ball and went home.

Agreed. UND/DU started their own party, sent out invites, and now has to invite the retarded kid so the party will be big enough to be "cool."

Agree. Difference being there has been no public "like-minded schools" comment directed specifically to SCSU in comparison to the SCSU administration's specific comments regarding the NCHC. I don't think you can blame the NCHC for working their way down their wish list.
