Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA
Yep, it's UND's fault.
I'm pretty sure this is all UND and DU's fault actually.

But its a new WCHA we live in. MN, UW, and UND won't be coming to your building for a conference matchup, nor will their fanbase, so schools shouldn't have to live by the old requirements. .
At least BSU got state funding. Mankato hasn't gotten any, and had to meet the WCHA requirements with all local funding.
So what are you basing this on?I still believe the NCHC will fail ultimately.
Notre Dame joining is a must or the issues begin 2 years before the conference ever starts up.
UMD, Miami, CC, and UNO will not achieve a consistent level of success and their fanbases will not adjust.
My only hope is that the recruits continue the strong regional traditions of college hockey and largely begin to ignore this group for their favorite teams growing up.
Goon, there will be no "National" interest in this league.
They need Notre Dame for legitimacy, and the first domino falls if they cannot get them.
Then, the demise of the league will be started when at least 2 of the potential futile four members Miami, UNO, UMD, or CC cannot achieve consistent success and look to move elsewhere as the excessive travel costs and loss of revenue due to an ambivalent fanbase due to the losing makes the move to this conference an unfortunate mistake for a couple of these schools.
If WMU or BG are added to gain members, then they may eke out a bit longer staying at at least 6 members, but they join the list of potential futile 6 in the conference.
Really! So we are to believe that the new WCHA have garner more national interest as the NCHC? I don't think so.Goon, there will be no "National" interest in this league.

Pretty sure that the NCHC will have that as well as national exposure.I never said the WCHA will have more national interest....
The WCHA will survive as it always has - a regionally based league with a fanbase of localities.
Interest will be community based.
Pretty sure that the NCHC will have that as well as national exposure.
You're kidding right? UND, DU and Miami are all high profile programs. UNO is growing in status with the addition of Dean Blais as head coach and I don't think UMD is any slouch either Edit forgot C.C. but I stand by my point none the less. What schools in the NCHC are a national draw?

Sorry forgot C.C. the throphy is staying with the league. It was announced back in July at the first new conference. So basically everyone but CC? Nice...
Serious question here... Where does the Broadmoor Trophy go? It would be EPIC if it follows CC since we have never won it!

Hockey is a niche sport though, it doesn't draw ratings.
UND is "high profile" in hockey circles only, everyone else goes UND who?
Miami has a somewhat high profile because of football and even then people confuse them with Florida.
DU is about as known as UND is outside of hockey and UMD sorry is a slouch.
This isn't about what hockey fans will watch, it's about drawing casual fans, and no program in the NCHC has that ability.
there are three schools that have NCAA titles, LSSU, NMU and MTU?
So you say that the NCHC teams aren't big time schools and they are not high profile, UND and DU have 14 NCAA titles between them and without checking UMD and C.C. both have NCAA titles in division I hockey as well, what does that make the WCHA there are three schools that have NCAA titles, LSSU, NMU and MTU?
