CCHA Championship Weekend: (2) Michigan, (3) Western Michigan, (4) Miami, and (11) BG

Re: CCHA Championship Weekend: (2) Michigan, (3) Western Michigan, (4) Miami, and (11

Dunno if this is appropriate, flame when/where necessary:

Sad Spartan hockey fans once again forced to sell CCHA finals tickets. The top four teams in the league meet at Joe Louis Arena on Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17 to decide the tournament championship and a spot in the NCAA tournament. These are our season tickets - Section 121 in the lower bowl, Row 12, Seats 1-2. We have tickets for both days, for a total of four games. Face value for both days is $90 total; seeking $75 or best offer. Willing to sell individual days if necessary. PM me if interested. Thanks!

No offense, but I think you'll have to drop the price more than that. Saturday may sell well, but the Friday game will evoke memories of the first day of the old "Super Six" with Michigan's basketball team playing in the NCAA tourney at the same time.

Your advice is appreciated. If you're interested, please feel free to make an offer.

Totally agree. You mean '97, though, right? When future Stanley Cup winners like John Madden were just "regular guys" on the line chart?

Oops, yes, I did mean '97, which was deeper than the NC champs in 96, and very much deeper than the 98 winning team.

Sorry, but you're not FORCED to sell your tix...you CHOOSE to sell them. If you were a real hockey fan, you'd go anyhow.

I agree Freddie. You've got to put aside your personal disapointment on your team not making Detroit and go and enjoy the best atmosphere in college hockey at the CCHA'a. After all, one more year left for this so make the most of it!

While past performance may not be a predictor of future results for buying these tickets in 2013, there is a bit of a trend here with MSU just having lost its 10th consecutive CCHA playoff game and fifth consecutive series. Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me five times....

I am a real hockey fan. I spend a lot of time and money supporting my team. If my team isn't there, I don't have the heart to go and support other teams. That is my choice, as you put it - you don't know me, so don't judge me.

Laugh while you can, Mr. Michigan fan. First year under a new coach produced a lot better outcome than many expected. Michigan State will be back stronger than ever and sooner than you think.

Re: CCHA Championship Weekend: (2) Michigan, (3) Western Michigan, (4) Miami, and (11

Friday's games are incredibly exciting because there's so much back story to both. I could easily see Western knocking of Miami...there are too many "stats" that favor Miami and motivation will most certainly (as will what crowd there is) lie with the Broncos. Consider: Miami is 10-1-2 in the last 13 vs WMU. Miami swept the Broncos earlier this year. The RedHawks knocked off the Broncos in last year's Mason Cup championship game. That's a whole lot of Western motivation for Murray to tap. That said, defensively, I'm not sure anyone in the country is playing as well as Miami has down the stretch, save the Michigan weekend at Yost. They have been playing playoff caliber hockey for a while and Connor Knapp seems to have really locked in while the offense has picked up the pace after a sluggish start. They're getting contributions from the talented freshmen class and I suspect we'll be watching Reilly Smith's swan song over the coming weeks. Should be interesting. I could go either way on this one.

As for the second semifinal...I don't even know where to start.

Dan DeSalvo? Who? 10 goals already in 6 postseason games. Obviously that line of freshmen will be key for Michigan to stop. But, Chris Brown seems to have found his game and I think he is playing the best hockey of his four year career. I've always thought him either a little overrated or a little under-achieving. But, I think he's really grown this year and along with Hunwick, seems to have carried Michigan. They're also getting great contributions from multiple lines and I have been surprised at how quickly Alex Guptill has shined. I think the spotlight of JLA will be too much for BG and their run probably ends.

Brown is still a junior, and yes this is his best season, but he still has some raw edges and is not yet a polished player. More on the underachieving side for parts of his career, but he has the best shot on the team and cooled down after his move on Weber at Yost.

Most likely to win the CCHA Playoffs
1. Miami
2. Michigan
3. WMU
4. BG

Why would a State fan want to pay $4 gas and $$ tickets to attend something where (a) perversely, he/she'd have to root for either M or the dirtiest team in the CCHA M, or (b) two teams whose CCHA finals success is inversely proportional to the odds of MSU getting an NCAA berth? It's a total wash.

Good lord...I swore it was his senior year. Seems like he's been there forever! Well, that bodes well for U-M next year if his game continues to improve.

I've never thought of Miami as dirty. Physical? Absolutely.

Regardless, the North Dakota/Miami games in the NCHC should be interesting...

As long as M avoids the handshake line, they should be alright.

Re: CCHA Championship Weekend: (2) Michigan, (3) Western Michigan, (4) Miami, and (11

More often than not, the two tend to be synonymous on this board.

I can understand the confusion around here. I've often confused repeatedly kicking a prone 5'9 defenseman with a skate blade with "being physical".

Let's be honest, we would hate players like Weber and Mackenzie if they played on any other team. Those guys definitely play on edge and get involved in scrums after the whistle routinely, but as I always say, it's ****ing hockey. As long as they are not going out there trying to hurt another player then I don't consider it dirty play. Hits from behind and deliberate elbows are bush league and luckily those have been few and far between in CCHA play this year.
