Castleton vs. Norwich

Re: Castleton vs. Norwich

Should I hate him? I just don't know. There's something about him. He's an educated man. Now I really hate him. Boston Globe had puch by punch analysis of the Bruins Montreal game. Thats the pro game and Canadien Jr's. This is U.S. college game. I love physical hockey but hits like the one that put Savard out isn't physical hockey it's bush. I'm just saying through observation your team tends to cross that line.

Re: Castleton vs. Norwich

To thatswhatshe\said: You are correct when you say" Norwich can do some things other teams cannot do". The speed of the forwards and playmaking ability is unmatched. Norwich offense is better this year but when you graduate the sarting goalie and four defensemen it inhibits your ability to realize the offensive potential. Your call out of diving is overshadow by the intentional hitting from behind by the Castelton player. Those kind of hits should be prosecuted in the courts of law. Intent to injure. It crosses the line of collegiate competion and sportsmenship into thuggery. Casteltons improved program is a positive additon for the league and community. Just don't view their success in rose colored glasses. They play a very physical brand of hockey that borders on "Slapshot esque type of play" View the tape of the game, hitting someone from behind into the boards turns a hockey game into the California penal league. Try skating, passing and shooting, and I'm not talking about your mouth. Your posts mirror your teams style of play. See you in the penalty box if not in your moms timeout place.

Come on, you don't say anything about the Norwich player that checked Lesswing from behind after an offsides whistle!!! both teams fans look thru those rose colored glasses and see only what they want to

Understandable. I can see your point about some malicious hits, especially some hits in the pro game but all in all its what puts fans in the stands. I think in a game that is so fast with the average size of players getting bigger and bigger, the hits are going to become bigger by nature and while I don't condone a malicious hit, I love to see the hard hits, and I'm not about to tell them to slow down. I 100 percent agree with fines and suspensions for dirty hits in the pro game and I would hope they do something more for the college game in that respect but it would have to be a pretty bad hit.

lol, that Bruins Montreal game was fantastic, and so was the Bruins Stars game with 3 fights in 4 seconds, how can you not love that? With hockey you have to take the good with the bad, just like helmet to helmet hits in the NFL.

Overall your probably correct that Castleton does cross that line more than other teams but it is what it is and other teams either better step it up or start holding their own(like Norwich) because its no fluke Castleton won 15 straight and was number 3. The thing is, Castleton can be very physical but they also have finesse when they need it, and that makes them very dangerous.

The hit was not even close from behind. It was a head on collision between the two as a continuation of the play. It was after the whistle but not even close to the malicious hit Alonzo laid on Allan.

Re: Castleton vs. Norwich

i love all the chatter game didnt live up to the hype but i think if you looked at the 2nd and 3rd period it was more of the hockey game we all expected. I just really hope that these two teams can make it back to play each other in the ECAC East finales and we can do all this trash talk all over again. GOOD TIMES GOOD TIMES

I disagree that the hit was from behind but not to the degree of the Harris hit, as for Alonzos hit, what was malicious was the Norwich player jabbing Cinotti in the chest.

Re: Castleton vs. Norwich

So here is a prediction for todays game....Todd will sit a couple of players that have been producing, bring Lindsey back (good thing) and still play the new guy over guys that have been here, not saying the new guys isn't a bad player but he has had 2 penalties in 3 games and the opposition is 2 for 2 on the pp.....

New guy also has 5 points in 4 games.

Re: Castleton vs. Norwich

new guy has 5 points in 4 game....not bad

Like I said he is not a bad player, the problem is here is a guy thet Castleton recruited and said no to the school and went to Platty wasn't getting the time so now CSC is good enough for him ...what does that tell the players that committed to the Castleton program from the get go? To me shows a lack of character on the coaches part and this is not the first time he done this.

Oh and to go along with the points he has don't forget the 2 penalties (ozone) that other teams pp scored on both, 1 to get USM back in the game and the 2nd NU scored to go uo 3-0

The one against USM was in the neutral zone. Splitting hairs, I know but just want to make sure everybody has the right facts.

Re: Castleton vs. Norwich

taking a look at the weekend I see that one Castleton player racked up 20 minutes in penalties. Two high sticking, one Cross checking, one stashing, one cross checking and one misconduct. I can tell you that if a Norwich player performed like that he would sit out a game or two. I really like the fact that Castleton has become a force in the league and feel it is great for hockey, I just do not like the way they have gone about it. Time for the coach to take some action. And you wonder why the NESCAC broke up the interlock.

Apparently Castleton likes being associated with the Jersey Shore:

Although Norwich was the one doing the fist-pumping on Friday: :)

No matter how much you hate the Jersey Shore(I personally hate it), you gotta love the fist pump. I definately wanted to deck the Norwich players when they started to do it but, hey just shows its contagious(yes I realize the Norwich players were doing it just to mock the spartans)! Don't knock it till you tried it though.

Next up for the spartans, human toliet - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwSTEzhoC8E&playnext=1&list=PLC38B6F0CAE1E45F2

The player you are referring to is Justin Alonzo and I would have to argue in his defense on this one. I will give you Friday night vs. Norwich where he lost his head a little. But the Sat. game where he got three penalties, maybe one of them was an actual penalty. Either way, he is a good first liner for Castleton so I doubt they will bench him, but we might see a line shift with Alonzo and possibly Ben Schoeneberger who has been playing great lately. Like I've said before I like the aggressive play, but it does tend to hurt them sometimes, but usually the best players for teams are all great skaters and not great hitters, the CSC players are both, for example Josh Harris and Stu Stefan.

It shouldn't matter whether the player is a first-liner or a bench warmer. I know plenty of coaches that will sit the player regardless based on the infraction.

Maybe if it wasn't 4-0 after the first 30 minutes....And I'd love to see you try and "deck" one of the Norwich players.

What was comical to me was the 50 year old guy with his face painted rocking the fist pump t-shirt trying to get the student section hyped up for the game.
