To many mods allowed- I see the Continental Challenge cars as prep succesors to Trans Am. The problem is that they allow top end sports car to run with themselves. Take them out, keep the Mustangs, Camaros, etc as well as the Acuras, Foci, Hyundai's etc- and you have O2.5 and U2.5 TA. And that is also very good racing.

well I would agree the old cars were heavy and not that fast, but they made a lot of noise and were really fun. I've been thru quite a few, mostly sports cars though.

One of the guys in my Kiwanis club bought a new black on black mustang cobra convertible about a month ago. it has 600 hp btw. He is not an ex race driver or anything, but pretty successful guy, as that car is easily 50k.

So he drives out of the parking lot and hammers it. He get's to second gear, and short shifts, so he's going maybe 35. But the car had so much torque that it moved to the right and right into the small bridge abutment he was going over, and basically he totaled it. needless to say he's not getting another one.

Thats the problem with cars like this, kind of like a fast bike, its easy to get into trouble.

How about wrecking a $1/4M Lambo right after buying it. :eek:

Two people riding in a just-purchased Lamborghini took off after the sports car crashed into a wall.

The collision happened at La Jolla Village Drive and La Jolla Scenic Drive at 11:45 p.m. Monday.

The Lamborghini, still with dealer plates from Lamborghini Newport Beach, was left in the middle of the street according to San Diego police.

The driver and passenger fled the scene according to investigators.

Met up with a high school friend who ended up in the Navy in San Diego when I came down for a conference. He took me to La Jolla one night and we wandered around ogling the car dealerships/rentals. I remember seeing TWO Bugatti Veyrons, a 458 Italia, a Murcielago, a Gallardo, and a ZR1. They probably thought we were casing the joints. Those La Jolla folk have money.

The old TA rules were pretty restrictive. Engines were fairly unrestricted, but that doens't mean there were a lot of options. And suspensions had to mostly be like the factory- which is why the Shelby was used, since it had a few different links in the back. It's also why you saw the GTA's run for a LONG time, even they stopped selling them in the US in 67.

Of the historic racing, it's my favorite.

Seriously, how does the bolt that's used in the tension setting, holding the alternator in place shear off in the middle? I'm going around the corner, taking a left, and I start hearing a screeching sound. I figured that, damm, I lost my power steering, so I go home. When I get there, I pop the hood and take a look inside. What do I see? A bolt half dangling over the serpentine belt that's used in setting the tension when installing the alternator. WT F?
