Re: Cars

I remember ogling the sticker on a Bentley at a car show once. The two extra little vents in the hood (about the size of my palm) were a $12,000 option. Sheesh.

Re: Cars

The tires on the Veyron at full speed last 12 minutes.

But that's perfectly okay, because the fuel will run out in 10.

Not to mention the fact that you'll run out of roadway to be hauling that fast in a pretty short order as well.

I have a buddy that used to sell them. Told me that the retractable hood ornament was $3,000. Ridiculous.

Re: Cars

Biased, due to brother working for Hyundai as a mechanic, but he stood behind the Sonata's reliability, although he himself doesn't care for the car (aesthetics reasons). He really likes the Azera, but that is out of bbdl's price range, apparently.

I do know if anyone wants to really blow some money, the Hyundai Genesis is basically a BMW clone. I have driven that...and wowzers.
Bought a hybrid sonata for the softball trips to Cali. Love it, wife misses the van.

Re: Cars

The garage find to beat all garage finds!

This 47 year-old car didn’t just run when it was parked a quarter century ago, it practically still had that new car smell.

A 1967 Chevrolet Corvette with just 2,996 miles on the odometer and one of the most interesting tales to tell is going on sale at the Mecum Auctions Houston event in April.

Re: Cars

Saw someone buzzing around Anchorage in a bright yellow Caterham 7 yesterday.

How he got one of those up here is beyond me.

Was it Clarkson, Hammond or Capt. Slow? :D

Meanwhile, Mrs. P and I came home yesterday with a new 2014 Volvo S60 T5, replacing her 2004 S80 after racking up nearly 200K miles. Nice that the new one has all the maintenance covered for the term of the lease.

As I recall, Hammond is a fan of Caterham's. Or at least I vaguely remember him driving around in one a while back.

Re: Cars

If you want a car to drive you'd be better off with a new Mustang. That sucker is raw brute force. It doesn't stop or steer like a new one. It won't hook up like a new one and its loud as heck going done the road but it will roast bias ply tires like their is no tomorrow. Awesome car but not for the faint of heart

If I had a the time, skill and money (so I'm not missing much), I'd like to kit-build a on old Mustang. I'd like to use modern tech on it - engine, suspension and adding a thing or two like power steering. Basically, the body styling from the 60's and early 70's are what I want.
