Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

This is nothing but sour grapes from the media of the losing side.
The IOC were the ones who originally brought it up. And media from all over are reporting on it.

I'm from "Down South" and everyone I've spoken to about this is in agreement that the Canadian women deserve to celebrate a job well done.

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

I think it is a great pic. Let these players savor the moment. It's a ONCE IN A LIFETIME event for most. If you have ever won a BIG (and I mean National or better) event you'd understand.

P.S...Read the label on the Champagne Bottle in the pic......Priceless
I think I'm capable of understanding even though I've never been part of a National or better title team.

Getting a little defensive in this thread.

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

Hey wait. You can't, as has happened for years, applaud women's olympic hockey teams as the leading promoter of the explosive growth of women's hockey and then come back and say they are not role models.
I didn't say that they weren't role models. And as part of the event, I thought they conducted themselves well before the games, during the games, and during the medal ceremony. This was after the fact and a total nonissue until somebody looking to dig up a story makes it one. If the men had done this, nothing would have been said. We aren't talking Tiger Woods here, and even that is a person's private life and not sports. I'd rather talk about the game.

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

I am guessing you have you ever won anything important that was sports related?
Having said that, if your 12 years old I apologize because your have a point smoking is unhealthy.

Could you please explain your post? I think either you drank some of that beer and are saying that you think I've never won anything important related to sports. (yes that is true). And that you apologize if I'm 12. (im almost 40 years older than 12)

With that said, I wasn't forming an opinion either way. Im happy for them, they won fair and square. I was just posting morning news, just like other people post photos and articles on a day to day basis.

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

I'm thinking here that national teams will plan where they have their celebrations and who will be present will be more carefully scrutinized.

Too much politically correct reactionary B.S. catering purely into the hands of an American media, prone to sensationalizing that which is not news. Very sad.

Absolutely agree! Guess we failed to bribe the IOC enough to leave them alone...and Lindsay Lohan hasnt done anything stupid this week to keep the U.S. media entertained, so they blew up this non story...hahaha...sad indeed.

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

I just can't believe that no one's "blamed" Shannon Miller for this!!!

Congrats to team Canada on a perfectly palyed hockey game. No doubt the better team won!! And, celebrate away gals . . . life's to short to worry about the IOC!!!!

There's a joke hanging there, but in the interest of fan relations, I'm not going to touch it.:D

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

I think the Americans should have gotten the Canadians to drink and smoke stogies befor the game.

The real question

The real question

Why have no investigative reporters followed up on the one-sentence report buried in the article that "Rebecca Johnston attempted to commandeer the ice-resurfacing machine?"

Sounds like it should have been the highlight of the celebration -- and original, too, don't believe I've ever seen the Red Wings hanging onto a Zamboni, like outside passengers on a San Francisco cable car, careeming across the ice waving the Stanley Cup!

What killjoy stopped her?

A whole new line of jokes -- "how many Cornell students does it take to drive a Zamboni?":p

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

On second thought I think the Canadian players should be ashamed of themselves for acting like hockey parents. You know the ones who travel 40 weekends a year and all stay in the same hotel during tournments and all have coolers.:)

I don't know. I think it depends on how many are in the School of Engineering. Then they would also have to play that song about wanting to drive the Zam.

Re: Canadian Olympic Team drinking champaign

:D
....hahaha....that's what all men and a lot of women say about Miller!!:D :D

I read this and my first reaction was that you were making a reference to Miller.....Lite. I had to review. Well i'm to 40 posts, I guess I can quit and go find a Canadian adult beverage or a good wine. Maybe a Big Red.

You've just hit on the real reason why we all put our kids into hockey....the coolers on the team bus, and the late nights at the hotel after games. :D ;)

Good sense, she didn't want to be ticketed with a DZWI. :D
