Having lived under Marty O'Malley for the past 8 years, there is not a tax he did not raise nor a fee he did not increase in his tenure in the State House. He used every accounting gimmick he could find, including raiding retirement and highway trust funds to balance the budget. No, you do not want this man anywhere near the White House.

Now the ambassador to Chad - that's a possibility.

Jim Webb formed an exploratory committee or whatever this weekend. A friend of mine who works in Congress is high on him.

If the Dem cupboard is bare, then the GOP kitchen has no walls.

Let's say Ahura Mazda takes pity on us and Hillary and Jeb are carried away by a pterodactyl while campaigning in Iowa. The GOP undercard has more name recognition than the Dems, but they're almost all famous for being poor candidates. Walker, Ryan, Jindal, Perry and Paul are known quantities, but what's known is that they're losers. Below that you have the true lunatics like Palin, Santorum, Huckabee, Carson. So once you clear away the deadwood there's Rubio and Christie. That's about average for a typical year.

Just awful when someone actually believes in paying the bills. Everyone on the right just uses the credit card. Pawlenty did it here in Minnesota and Dayton came in and PAID the bills.

As I've said before, and at the risk of Kepler's head exploding ;) if Hillary is out Andrew Cuomo is most likely in. Big state governor, famous name, access to huge amounts of money. First governor to push for and pass gay marriage legalization through the legislative process and not the courts. Also as NY AG most likely has a few corporate scalps on his wall.

I'm in no way advocating his candidacy, but in a non-Hillary, non Lizzy Warren year, Cuomo can afford to lose Florida lets say to Bush if he's the nominee and still roll to the election provided he's a decent national campaigner.

Having decided not to run, Mitt Romney has apparently decided the next logical thing to do is to box Evander Holyfield...

But he didn't. He'd rob Peter to pay Paul. Plus he left a hefty deficit for the new GOP governor to solve.

His solution - cut spending.
The overwhelming Democratic legislature solution - don't make a pension payment to the retirement account and other gimmicks.

The (Democratic) Comptroller is not pleased with the legislature.

I'm taking it as a given that Cuomo is so deeply in the tank for Wall Street that he has so many scandals waiting to explode on him that he wouldn't get past the second paragraph of his announcement before the Times, Post, Daily News and Pennysaver ended his candidacy and maybe got him arrested.

Based on my wife's secondary sources, he's nuts. The whole gun incident was just scratching the surface. Dude is basically Brig. General Jack T. Ripper.

OTOH, if the general were Webb vs Jeb or another neocon, my industry would be so in clover that I could basically buy my retirement home on spec.

If Chris Christie hasn't gotten his fat @ ss lugged yet by the feds, I doubt Cuomo will...
