Much like the trendy use of "climate change" nowadays, the correct way to wiggle out of this is to say that vaccines "trigger the onset of", not "cause", mental disorders. Which conveniently muddles causality.

I'd vote for Walker just for having the guts to shoot down a religious test for political office.

That's not a religious test. It's a competency test.

No, it's both. Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod members would go after him like a Canadian chasing a maple syrup truck had he said yes. They're popular over in the Land Cheddar Built. Had he answered no, he would have been shouted down or mocked by those who listen to what scientists have to say on the subject. It's a no-win question, meant to galvanize one voting bloc or another.

What scientists "have to say"? That's beyond comical.

Do you think it would be presented in any other way by his opposition? Political arguments are all about debasing your opposition, and the less direct you are in those insults the more persuasive you can be.

this. It's more dignified just to refuse the bait.

Walker came out of CPAC as the favorite. Reason 27 why he goes down in flames. Bush will continue to be the wrecking ball.

One of the few things Scott Walker and I can agree on...turning our backs on UW:

Scott Walker gets away from University Flap
Chron

The prospective Republican candidate for president is traveling in the United Kingdom this week on what's officially billed as a trade mission. It's a trip that also turns the Wisconsin governor's focus toward foreign policy and away from a kerfuffle at home with the University of Wisconsin.

Few things in the state are as revered as the "UW," a fact Walker collided with last week when he proposed cutting $300 million from the university system's budget and removing the century-old philosophical underpinning of the school's mission statement.

The reaction, including from his normally loyal Republican allies, took some shine off the largely positive reviews Walker received nationally after his speech last month at a conservative political conference in Iowa.

"It's one of the most spiteful, mean-spirited and counter-productive things I could imagine, going after the university in this situation," said former state Sen. Dale Schultz, a Republican and a UW graduate who retired this year after 32 years in the Legislature.

Dale Schultz comes from my district, though not from the party I usually support. He has a reputation of being pragmatic, honest, and not afraid to depart from the party line if he feels the policy warrants it. He has a great deal of respect from those on both sides of the aisle who focus on policy rather than party rhetoric.

This is not official. MT @mattyglesias sources also tell me Jeb enjoys the support of every single living former Republican president

Hillary malaise?

Martin O'Malley? Please. He was Kep's and mine governor for 8 years. He never met a tax he didn't raise and a fee he didn't increase and he left the state a fiscal mess for his GOP successor.

That sounds an awful lot like blaming a past CEO for current failures.

Called this months ago...Bush is going to be hard to stop. Anyways:

"The move reflects concerns among Bush advisers that accepting massive sums from a handful of uber-rich supporters could fuel a perception that the former governor is in their debt."

If that's the actual reason, it reflects well on him. If its for some other reason, its very clever. I don't know if I buy it. But in any case the fact that he can and is willing to do this is pretty impressive.

Current guy has been in office for 2 months and has a veto override majority in the legislature. Hogan may be the governor but Mike Miller is running the State.

So? As soon as he took office he assumed responsibility for all those problems.
