Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

I see some of his USCHO fluffers have jumped ship as well.

I have not seen anybody on the board plumping for Rubio. I have seen people point out that he looked like he owned the Establishment lane after IA. He may still. That isn't contradicted by observing that he really got embarrassed at the NH debate, or that he's looked, sounded and acted like Pinocchio since Day 1.

I would say that news of Rubio's demise is exaggerated. Christie is a buffoon and Jeb looks like an adolescent forced to work in the family mortuary business when all he really wants to do is move to the city and get into gay porn. Who else are TPTB going to back? Kasich?

Cruz! The whole premise of pundidiotry is that the Establishment will coalesce behind somebody (Rubio, Jebbers!!!, you name it) to defeat Trump. The problem is Trump+Cruz+Carson+Fiorina+other nuts = 67% of the primary vote. Now the dwindling members of the Establishment have to come to grips with Rubio not being Republican Jesus after all. That means a choice between a loose cannon and a loathsome guy who still wants to cut taxes on GOP campaign contributors.

Well golly :p

That came outta left field :D
Would like to hear the backstory!!

TPTB really, really hate Cruz. I think they'd actually prefer Trump, who can at least be bought off for a few billion, and who creepily enough would probably just lose in a "normal" fashion (i.e., sweep the red with maybe a borderline loss in NC, but anyway not get embarrassed).

Cruz OTOH has a chance to be a transformative candidate, as in a spectacular, Goldwater-level loss that takes the Senate and half the House majority with him. He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until we are all dead.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

I fail to see the downside in that personally, but I'm not in the Republican billionaire's club.

lol. I love the restrained and dignified rhetoric of campaign season.

I personally enjoyed seeing Christie so devastatingly expose the MarcoBot 1.1 (after the fact, in youtube clips). Christie is a very capable politician - but he obviously has no chance at the presidency in the age of television, not to mention his political baggage. Rubio is finished, both in the analytical betting markets and in the hearts of his countrymen. Very curious to see who will replace him. Perhaps there's still time for the voters to come around to Kasich.

It's a primary. I'm sure there are still a ton of Republicans completely in denial about W.

no, there are not.

I remember in 2008 conservatives saying that conservatives never liked W. Which was funny because he received 50% (once and slightly less a second time) of the vote. Evidently all conservatives were voting for Kerry.

W's approval rating has moved from about 30% to 50%. And yep, that includes mostly self described conservatives.

If Kasich was a little closer to the top, I'd say he'd have a chance. Problem is you can't get completely shut out of the SEC primary and all those delegates yet still be a serious contender. Even if he does finish 3rd in NH or even 2nd, he's going to get crushed down South where he has no presence. In the Northern states, he's running behind Trump and good luck fighting for oxygen with him around.

South Carolina and Super Tuesday are going to be interesting to see who has viability outside of their home base. Fundies gave Cruz the Iowa edge. Trump if he wins NH is going to be more impressive since he's beating out people like Christie and Kasich who should have some advantages there. If Trump wins down South, or if Cruz holds serve, that's your frontrunner.

I still haven't seen it. Was it really that devastating, as in "people will never look at him again without thinking of that"? An opposite of the "I paid for this microphone" Reagan moment? (Even as a Reagan Hater, I will admit that was a kick-*** moment).

Ever since 40 Year Old Virgin I have never once thought of Coldplay without thinking "You know how I know you're gay..?" And I can't see Al Gore without thinking of manbearpig. Was it that bad?

I think the Republicans give him 20 extra points for not being a you know what.

A Democrat. What did you think I meant?

I don't think he can come back from this. He looks so utterly exposed. Following the debate, The Atlantic is kicking the tires on Christie and Slate is wondering if Jeb can be resurrected. It's a mess. The only sure thing seems to be the implosion of the MarcoBot.
And yes, I know Trump and Cruz are the front runners. I'm talking about the next "viable alternative" candidate.

This is a pretty funny attempt to whitewash Hillary. Can you pick the true ones? (I know Flag, for you it's all of them...)

Let me do the same thing for Hitler.

1. Killed 6 million Jews.
2. Had a bad moustache.
3. Never made an honest woman of Eva until the end.
4. Keeps freaking out in that YouTube clip.

Ha, ha, so silly are those people who criticize Hitler...

It was.

Put it this way. ALL WEEK Christie had told him over and over again that he was coming for him on this issue. Rubio decided at the debate, despite the fact he saw the brick wall in front of him, to slam down the accelerator and try to go through the wall. He didn't. Devastating crash and burn.

He proved one thing to NH voters. He is the prototypical mindless automaton who only says things that he has been programmed to say. You could put a robot onstage and accomplish the same thing.

If the Republicans were in disarray before this has to make it worse. The establishment thought they found a home in Iowa. Now they're abandoning ship.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

Man, the change in the suck up wind from the lamestream media away from Rubio after that debate **** near ripped my eyebrows off! I see some of his USCHO fluffers have jumped ship as well. He's been like this for every debate. Problem for him is he was flying below the radar previously. Yikes.

Exactly why I said he was going to go down in flames. The guy has nothing to say off script. He looks good in comparison to others, but when he gets out in front he will tank.

Yup. Having watched several of the debates I never got the rave reviews of his performance. Canned, one note and boring. Hell if you were looking for that, vote Jebbers!!! ;)

Dubya was no better. Hopefully we dodged a bullet, because having nothing in your head except what your advisers put there this morning is no bar to being elected.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

W was a far better campaigner than Rubio. He gave off a non-threatening vibe for indies while letting the corp/warmonger types that he was one of theirs. Rubio appeals to no one!
