Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an election

Babe Laufenburg.

Bernie now speaking @ Liberty. The usual/required packed house respectfully listening. He is getting his chance to get his message across without interference.

Being threatened with fines and demerits for not attending or disrupting it might be a strong reason why.

It's a good tradition, though. I know it's Liberty trying to create the illusion that they're anything other than a factory for churning out creationists with a "degree," but however it's arrived at, it is a Good Thing to listen to your opponent's best argument.

Now that's just lazy comic writing. You can't just play out literal, obvious reality using illustrated characters and call it a comic. Doesn't there have to be some level of analogy, abstraction, reduction, etc?

What comic? It's a documentary.

Exactly. Although it is comical that Tom Tomorrow apparently thinks he discovered that powerful insiders in a political party have been using less privileged, poorer and less educated individuals within their own party by pretending to be interested in their needs. Maybe the guy in the Paul Revere hat and color-shifting jacket should talk to some African Americans about forming a new political party.

Ha, the result of the producers at Frontline having decided they couldn't, in good conscience, ask one of their journalists to follow Trump around for three weeks.

The Comment flow on this article is an interesting commentary on what's going on inside the Democratic party right now.

I have no doubt we'll all come together after the convention, so this is a healthy debate on the best way to forward the cause of liberalism in this country. Personally I have a lot of sympathy with the view that liberals always hope centrists will move left and are forever disappointed. The way to get liberal policies is to nominate liberal candidates. Look at how conservatives took over the political marketplace and used it to so effectively distort the range of political possibilities throughout the 90s and 00s. That's how you effect real change,

As opposed to Madison or Middlebury or some more left of center center of learning where anyone you don't agree with is shouted down, humiliated, or exiled from campus.

Give me Liberty!
And, for full disclosure, son #3 graduated from there. And if you're wondering, his mind is intact.

I don't condone the shouting down at some campuses, but I think forced attendance isn't the answer, either. Colleges should present opportunities for academic thought, not forced lectures.

Some professors take attendance in class. Isn't that forced attendance?

Which is silly, unless it's a hands-on/participatory lab. College students aren't in grade school anymore, it should be their responsibility to either attend lecture, or follow the Keller self-study plan to prepare for the required exams.

Plenty of us on the left condemn that behavior. And frankly the right is hardly without its excesses in the "close my ears against sacrilegious fact" department. The poster children of book burning are invariably wingnuts.

But it's not liberalism or conservatism that destroys free speech, it's stupidity. To the extent that speakers either can't or won't use logic and facts when they argue they destroy the open exchange of ideas.

ABC poll.

1. Donald Trump: 33% (up nine points since July)
2. Ben Carson: 20% (up 14 points)
3. Jeb Bush: 8% (down four points)
4. Ted Cruz: 7% (up three points)
4. Marco Rubio: 7% (no change)
6. Rand Paul: 5% (down one point)
7. John Kasich: 3% (up one point)
7. Mike Huckabee: 3% (down five points)
9. Carly Fiorina: 2% (up two points)
9. Scott Walker: 2% (down 11 points)

Look at the clown show Walker is putting on. He's the joke of the field. He had all the intangibles in his favor and he blew it.

Can we have a 5 person debate now?

Sure. That'll keep the Carly Troll off the stage. The only reason she's on the stage is for ratings. They're pitting her against Trump in hopes of Fireworks.

There are six weeks between the second and third debates. Hopefully this is the last huge one; with so many candidates there is really no time for them to say anything substantive. Maybe by next time Christie, Graham, Pataki, Santorum, Fiorina, and Jindal will all be gone.

Walker at 2% is unbelievable. Nobody on his campaign staff down to the coffee gopher should ever work in this town again.

Also important, the shutdown deadline is 4 weeks before the third debate, and I think it's obvious that it's going to be Cruz' Hail Mary.
