Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Remember I said that Hillary was a terrible candidate? Anyone starting to agree with me more now?

I still am predicting she will win....

Seeing as you touted Gary Johnson...you have zero credibility. (much like Gary Johnson :D )

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Here's the thing. Every time the public is exposed to Trump, they hate him. All you need to do is look at the key dates in the campaign (polls-only). Let's start with the conventions, where Hillary went from a 1.3% (votes) lead to a peak of 7%. Then you have August and September where the public slowly forgot about Donald and he closed the gap to 1.5% just before the first debate. After the first debate, this jumped to 5.6%. After the second, 6.9%. Now we're at 3.7%.

If you look at the three models from 538, these dates would be (now/poll/p+):
0.2 / 1.3 / 2.1
9.7 / 7.0 / 4.6
1.2 / 1.5 / 1.2
6.0 / 5.6 / 4.3
6.6 / 6.9 / 5.7
3.6 / 3.7 / 3.3

The public hates Donald Trump. They're just too stupid to realize it.

Part of that is also when she speaks her numbers go up as well.

I'm with Kep. Hillary has done a fairly good job given the circumstances. The pneumonia was a big misstep (pun intended?), the e-mail thing she has been fighting (apparently) a two-front war against Donald Trump and the FBI, and the debates were marvelous. When she made the "deplorables" comment, she wasn't wrong, but it was stupid to say.

I agree...outside of 2 weeks really no one could have run a better campaign. This FBI thing though is out of her control...

Agreed. The time has passed where she can rely on Donald to dick himself. She needs to come out and be appearing on as many shows as she can in semi-friendly locales (MSNBC, CNN, all of the major broadcast networks). She needs to be out giving campaign speeches with Michelle and Barack. She needs Tim Kaine to be working the mid-Atlantic hard.

The public needs to see her again. It's also smart that she's re-airing the 'Children' ad again. The public needs to be reminded what a Trump presidency represents.

If she wins, there's going to be a lot of pants-****ting going on at the highest levels of 935 Pennsylvania.

Agreed on all counts. She also needs to re-iterate that there is a reason why people like Laura Bush (and the whole family) are supporting her.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Remember when you thought Gary Johnson was a great candidate? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

I never really thought of Gary Johnson as a good candidate, because I'm pretty sure he'd get stumped if asked who the emperor of Mexico is, but he's getting my vote as the Non-Dynastic/Non-Fascist candidate.

Why not just write in a friend they are probably more qualified ;)

I guess, if they are really that friendly? How is she going to answer a question about Donna Brazile giving her debate questions in advance? Deny and say Russians?

I don't think you are going to see her give one interview the rest of the way. Too many questions that have awful optics and she has a terrible tendency to answer some of those in a way that hurts her even more. They both are on strict scripts the rest of the way unless some dramatic event takes place. Which I suppose has a 92% chance of happening.

:D

I want someone who's on the ballot to help (okay, pipe dream there) draw more attention away from the two big parties in this country.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

I am not a huge Seth Meyers guy but this line was pretty good:

"Donald Drumpf still hasnt released his tax returns. 12 women have accused him of sexual assault and he is going on trial for fraud for Drumpf University in November. But now the only thing the media is talking about is emails. Its like if during the OJ trial everyone was focused on whether or not the Ford Bronco had up to date registration".

:D

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

I didnt realize Louis did so well on that...I mean if everyone in Conans audience bought the show he must be rolling in it ;)

(I like Kindler as a comedian but he is a weird dude)

I know. That was in reference to Louis sending stuff out to his email subscribers, but I still think it's funny.

So we have Drumpf supporters burning a Black Church (will the media call them terrorists?) and (I am guessing) Drumpf Supporters killing cops in Iowa. Nice work Republicans...

It's really important that we empathize with their economic anxiety and cultural isolation though, or so I'm told.
