Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Trump might be insane, but I don't think he has a coherent plan it would take to overthrow democracy like a Hitler or other true despots. He seems more like a self-serving Berlusconi type that would stumble around screwing everything up within the system that exists. His spiel seems reflective of the disaffected rednecks he's screaming too, but I don't think they're exactly coherent enough to pose a structural danger to our system of government. Definitely the loose-cannon attitude is dangerous. He could start a world war on a whim. He could launch nukes. He could issue screaming crazy executive orders about deportation and whatnot. I just don't think he actually has enough focus to take down the USA. He's a sleazy, lying, stupid, self-aggrandizing buffoon... but not the "end of democracy." He's not smart enough for that. I don't think he even understands how our government works now, let alone a vision for the running of his future dictatorship. He would need a big team for that, and all his crazy tea partiers are just as self-centered as he is.
I could be wrong. Whatever your reasons (mine is that he's a sleazy, abusive, lying asshole) the important thing is that no sane person votes for him. Our nation is more resilient than you think.

If I was Obama's speechwriter, I would have gone with "the pride and dignity of our nation are at stake" in that spot.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

I liked Obama's "speech ad" for Hillary (I think Kep linked it). It was Democrat drool, but I liked it.

If you want to feel your IQ drop...watch Ann Coulter on Bill Maher! Good lord she makes Kelly Anne Conway look like a Rhodes Scholar. Hell the sanest thing she said is it is 60/40 Drump wins (think about that) and even Scooby doesnt buy that anymore

(NowCast has it 87/12, Polls Only has it 85/15 and Polls Plus has it 82/18. She is above 320 EVs in every one)

I like to imagine that right after this person said this, the frame froze, a record scratched, and his voiceover said, "You're probably wondering how I got here, arguing that half-a-dozen sexual assault allegations had been a huge help to my candidate's image"

But the Trump source played down the political risks of the recent spate of sexual misconduct claims against the Republican nominee, saying that such allegations could help Trump in arguing that he’s a crusading outsider under attack by a fixed system.

“I think it reinforces the fact of — the corporate media/establishment apparatus that we’re against,” the source explained. “Also, remember, you know, we’re not trying to sell Trump to millennial women. That’s the difference. So, does this hurt? We look at it as a positive for the fact of: It’s once again a gang, a pile-on.”

Seemed to have helped Bill Clinton

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Regarding Trump, we've seen what happens when the GOP controls all levers of power during the Bush administration. Trump would be 10 times worse, especially when you consider he'd be appointing Scalia loons to the SCOTUS. Scalia was I believe the only justice a dozen years ago to vote to give the Prez the power to detain anybody at any time even if an American citizen as long as we were in a (undeclared) state of war.

What you would see would be investigations and lawsuits galore against political enemies. Now this isn't the same as setting up gulags, but a Trump Justice Department would go after say the media if they ever leaked something embarrassing to his administration. They'd also investigate any potential threat to his re-election. You would also see a severe curtailing of voting rights for any group of people not on the Trump express. Not only would these actions not be curtailed by a GOP Congress, they'd be encouraged! Then blessed by a compliant court system.

Coulter is a professional troll. She's only in it for the fame and money. She's not a true believer.

I know...but I gotta say this is different than her normal bile. Usually I see her speak and you can tell when she is saying something she doesnt actually believe and is just trying to **** of Lefties. (she is often giggling or smiling at this point) She was different in this interview, she was fired up and ready to burn the system down completely. Hell she was nicer to Bernie Sanders than she was to her own party! (then she tried to make it seem like Bernie supports building a wall which ****ed near blew my mind) She was railing against the "Uniparty" which is a bit different than her usual rhetoric.

I think she really is a Drumpf supporter, not because she likes him per se but because of what he represents. She hates liberals as we all know but she also hates the GOP. You can see her want to vomit when she endorses one of them even though it helps her sell books.

She also represents a sort of blindness within the Drumpf movement that is ten times worse than what the GOP had with Romney. They are so deep inside they cant see what is going on around them. They think because they hand pick spots for rallies that the rest of the country is obviously on their side. They think because some women have zero issue with Drumpf being a Chester the Molester that ALL women feel that way. They dont look at the polls, or even the breakdowns of changes which can at least show you trends, they just plug along believing they are leading and will win. (even though they have never been winning except in one poll for like 2 days) They have convinced themselves that the whole thing is rigged (and it isnt rhetoric...Kelly Anne Conway said it to Anderson Cooper on his show and Drumpf did it at the debates) and the media is spending too much time on his scandals and not enough on the issues even though when it was a straight substance fight he was getting killed as well. (he didnt rebound until the media...wait for...went after Hillary for her scandals and being sick) Hell they are still convinced he won debate 2 even though his numbers have been tanking since then. (if he had won the bleeding would have been stopped) They are trying to say there is no Civil War in the party yet their main man is on Twitter attacking the GOP...

It is a weird thing...I know they arent going to act like they are getting killed but just from a pragmatic standpoint they should be trying to shift to a new method based on the fact that everything they are doing is crapping the bed. Even before all of this they were stagnant on voters (stuck around Scooby's magical 42%) which was going to make it very hard to win. This whole thing is a Master's Class in how NOT to run a campaign for higher office even without the fact that Drumpf is a pervert and vile scum.

No, I see a move opening with this scene and then a voiceover saying "For as long as I remember, I've wanted to be a campaign spokesman". You then see his upbringing in an ethnic neighborhood overrun with spokesmen.

Thoughts on Wikileaks and Hillary?

My thought is they don't make Donald Trump qualified to serve as POTUS and don't disqualify her. That should be the paramount thought process for all undecideds.

Despite her toxic rants, I'll bet she secretly would prefer a Clinton win. Much more hate-money to be made when the enemy is in power. Same goes for Rush, Levin and Fox.

And, for that matter, Trump. :p

That's way too logical for most people.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

For the record, democracy itself is not at stake in this election.

Once again, it may not be if you're a white male. But if you're one of them Mexicans or Syrians that don't speak American...

“Trump said to watch your precincts. I’m going to go, for sure,” said Steve Webb, a 61-year-old carpenter from Fairfield, Ohio.

“I’ll look for . . . well, it’s called racial profiling. Mexicans. Syrians. People who can’t speak American,” he said. “I’m going to go right up behind them. I’ll do everything legally. I want to see if they are accountable. I’m not going to do anything illegal. I’m going to make them a little bit nervous.”

For the record, that's against federal law.

This guy seems nice too:

“If she’s in office, I hope we can start a coup. She should be in prison or shot. That’s how I feel about it,” Dan Bowman, a 50-year-old contractor, said of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee. “We’re going to have a revolution and take them out of office if that’s what it takes. There’s going to be a lot of bloodshed. But that’s what it’s going to take. . . . I would do whatever I can for my country.”

Some damaging stuff in the emails, for sure. But so far, nothing that approaches the significance of the hack itself. The biggest story there (or, I should say, should be the biggest story) is the Russian meddling and the fact that Putin wants Trump to be his puppet in the White House.
