Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Yeah I'm interested in what happens with all these threats of precinct watchers (different than poll watchers which is legal but has specific limits on what the person can do). I'd like to think it's all bluster and talk, but the way Trump's gotten people worked up some people could be crazy enough to follow through and get violent. I hope the Hillary campaign has some (legal and calm) response ready for it in case it starts causing major issues on election day.

It's going to be very, very ugly. I'm glad I don't live in PA.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

The Times Timothy Egan explains perfectly why Trump and his campaign have “made America vile” rather than great:
Here’s his lesson for young minds: If you’re rich and boorish enough, you can get away with anything. Get away with sexual assault. Get away with not paying taxes. Get away with never telling the truth. Get away with flirting with treason. Get away with stiffing people who work for you, while you take yours. Get away with mocking the disabled, veterans and families of war heroes.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

As Maher pointed out Friday night why would anyone think his accusers are lying when Trump admitted to being a predator? He freaking said he grabs what he wants. Are people really this dense?

Even considering the 25+ years of poison in your ear, this is ridiculous.

Question. Did (does) Bill prey on women? If so, why does he get a free pass?

Either you condemn both or excuse both.

If it bothers you on Bill, can I use the Kennedys? At least Trump didn't kill anyone.

JFC. This is such a vile post. For so many reasons.

Is there an untruth in it?

You don't like Trump. Guess what? I don't either. But you have to realize that there are bad people on your side of the aisle, too.

Otherwise, it's called blinders.

I don't know if it's vile, but it's awfully lame. Trump and his supporters have perfected the false equivalency game.

Who around here has denied there is? I will save you the time of twisting yourself into a pretzel the answer is no one. You can pretend that people are acting a certain way but there is zero facts to back it up. Of course considering your ridiculous assertions on gay marriage none of this is really that surprising.

And Kepler before you talk about how he is "one of the good ones" read what he is saying...it is no different than what the "bad ones" are saying he is only dressing it up in concern trolling and false equivalency...

In other news:

Drumpf Really Wants to Lose All The Swing States...

In an odd move, Paduchik picked a fight with the head of the state party just 24 days before the election — an election that Drumpf almost certainly needs the Ohio Republican Party to win. The stakes couldn't be higher: No Republican has won the White House without winning Ohio. And the state party has a pretty good track record: GOP candidates won every statewide race by double-digit margins in 2014.

Borges, through a spokeswoman, told The Enquirer: "I won't let a staffer's ego get in the way of us doing all we can to win elections up and down the ballot this year."

The Ohio Republican Party is also paying the salaries of Drumpf campaign staffers in the Buckeye State. It is not clear whether that would be affected by Paduchik's letter.

"If Chairman Borges refuses to continue meeting that obligation, I respectfully ask the committee to direct the chairman to meet the party's obligations," Paduchik wrote. Asked for additional comment, Drumpf Ohio campaign spokesman Seth Unger said the letter from Paduchik spoke for itself.

The man and his staff are morons...I love it! :D

He's excusing a presidential candidate who said he sexually assaults women and had had nine accusers come forward.

Tu quoque! Tu quoque!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Lets take joecct's idiocy straight on because he seems to be struggling with his hero Trump going down in flames!

Trump appears to be a serial pervert who in his own words which we have on tape likes to force women into sexual encounters. Now he hasn't bragged about forcing anyone into sex, so he's more of the molester on the subway kind of pervert, only with a billion dollars at this disposal.

Now, how does this compare to Clinton? It doesn't aside from extramarital sex. Ken Starr was tasked with taking down Bill Clinton. With unlimited time, money, and investigators, he looked into all of these allegations and even he found them not credible. Does anybody with half a brain truly believe that Starr wouldn't have used an even half way credible claim against the President of sexual assault, as opposed to getting him on a willing overweight intern? Way too much money was getting thrown around 20 years ago by right wing nutters to make accusations against the Clintons. To my knowledge none of Trump's accusers are looking for or will get a dime.

So, what are we left with. Tired old 60 and 70 something year olds like joecct angry at the world and wanting to embrace a lunatic to stick it to everybody else. Joe, do us a favor and get a hobby or something that doesn't involve advocating putting Trump in the White House.

Pence is doing what joecct is doing. Except he's doing it on Fox News this morning. His political career should be over after this election. I hope he's the nominee next time out cause that would be fantastic.

Joe is getting a hobby most likely, on the morning of November 9th. He and others like him will move from the ranks of rubes and deplorables and become the voices of the myth of the "rigged" election. Clinton could win by one electoral vote or she could win all 50 states, and Trump's rubes are going to be too stupid (or something worse) to accept it. The only way this goes away is if there really are substantially fewer people who will vote for Trump than what the polls show now. The party is not going to censor Trump. The parties leaders are mostly devoid of honor so don't look to them to steer this ship in the right direction.

It's really getting to the point where I can't see much difference between Trump and a Trump supporter. They are both dangerous.

I do have a comment on Pence's message- First of all- does Trump deserve to be forgiven? Well, I'm not in a position to do that, he didn't do anything directly to me. But conceptually, sure he does. Second- does Trump deserve to get a second chance? Like all criminals who are serving time- if he does his penalty and is honestly never going to do it again- sure.

BUT.

Should that second chance be the President of the United States? Considering that criminals face so many roadblocks to re-enter society, from getting a job to voting, second chances should start far lower than that. Someone should give him a job managing real estate- but that's it. Especially considering how one party really wants to throw the key away, he should barely get better than that.

Conceptually.

That is what joecct is doing in this instance, but I strongly suspect each of us has done it, like him, accidentally -- among the fallacies it is likely the one committed most frequently with no malice nor intent to evade. It feels relevant, though it is not.

But JFC people, joecct is a model poster here and all the ad hom and insults are just wrong. Although there are a couple posters here who are genuine trolls, joecct is among the best we have. It is hardly a reach to put yourself in his shoes (fingers?) and see that from his POV we appear as the basest of hypocrites.

Rover, minus the insults, has actually done a good job of comparing the differences between Trump and Bill Clinton. I defer to that as the reasons why I don't view my condemnation of one as opposed to the other as hypocritical. But we should take heed of joecct's warning that insofar as we examine our own logic we could still be deluded. Cognitive biases lurk everywhere, generated by everything from our partisanship to our brain structure. In that he is 100% correct.

Could one of you please post me a link to one of joe's post where he shows his support for tDonald? It shouldn't be all that tough since tDonald is his hero. I can't recall seeing one but I'm only on here intermittently so I'm sure I could have missed one. The ones I've read seem to suggest he dislikes both HRC & tDonald but you two suggest my impression is incorrect. Thanks in advance for the link

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

As to the politics of this, my God Trump could not be more self-destructive if they tried. The vast majority of women are going to identify with Hillary as the wronged party in instances of Bill's infidelity. Even if she demonized Bill's accusers -- perhaps even more strongly if she did -- they will put themselves in the place of the homewrecked, not the homewrecker.

The establishment GOP knows this, so they aren't going near it. It's left to Trump's inner circle of 9/11 Guilliani, and the Tartuffes Robertson, Reed, and Falwell fils, to feed themselves into that meat grinder. Go, boys, go! :p

Joe is an ok poster until he falls back into his "I'm just asking questions" mode, which is kind of what he's doing with this Bill vs. Trump comparison. He never comes out and says what he thinks directly when he slips into this mode, but he then gets upset when people read into his posts what they want even though he hasn't given them any other option.

Maybe, though that also sounds like our reaction to another top-notch poster, Bob Gray.

But joecct can speak for himself. I find the gangbang of him unseemly. It is hard, right now, to be a conservative of conscience.
