Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

You don't get credit for a save if you come into the game with a 10-run lead.

Mariano's last game? He came in down 4-0. ;)

I'm saying Obama is Hillary's closer. The save is inconsequential; giving up a run with a big lead is inconsequential; the last out is what she's looking for so she's gonna bring in the specialist at getting last outs.

Hey, he might, might, have finally said something positive for women --> He doesn't believe women need to puff up their lips cosmetically to be beautiful.

He's finally thrown a strike. (OK, it was near the black and the ump feels charitable and needed to stretch his right arm.) Too bad he's already walked in five runs ...

The most hilarious thing is the State contacted the campaign for the info and nobody replied.

It'll be great when they blame on some Democrat conspiracy. In a state that's voted Democrat once in its presidential voting history.

I thought he hires the best people?!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Both Obama and Trump have now made the claim that "democracy itself is at stake in this election." I don't like it. I wasn't all that surprised when Trump claimed the End Times or whatever, but wish Obama wouldn't have stooped so low. Leave the wilder claims to people like me who don't matter. All it's doing is heating up the tinderbox. For the record, democracy itself is not at stake in this election.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

by 'long term' you mean -go run for the senate- :p

she's got to choose to be a politician and then go from there. That's a big choice, which may be aided by the fact that her children are close to being out on their own.

But she has the skill to be very careful with her words and still sound like a real person. Something Hillary just can't do.

She's smart, she knows the law (being a lawyer), has been on the fringes of doing public policy, knows how to manage people.

Just a matter of choice at this point.

That's a little easier to say as a white male.

Trump started to discuss the sexual assault allegations at a rally today(and by discuss, of course I mean say the women were too ugly to molest) and the crowd broke out into a chant of "We don't care".

EDIT: "Why doesn't some woman say what they say about me about [Obama]?"

Trump also said of his accuser, "believe me, she would not be my first choice," but failed to say who would be his first choice to sexually assault. He's always so vague on policy plans.

You're not helping. Women and minorities are still welcome to vote and will not lose that right despite any scare tactics put to use by right or left with the aim of inciting riots and violence. Please, everyone, vote. With all confidence in its validity and continued legality.

She's never had her husbands oratorical skills (few have), but there has never been any question about her horsepower.

Who knows how much of that would stand after 4 years of Trump?

The problem here is not just that Trump is "an overbearing, tin-plated dictator with delusions of godhood." It's that if elected, when things didn't go exactly his way, he would as a last (oh, who are we kidding, first) resort set about to use everything from the FBI to the military to force his way. The only force that could stop him would be the GOP -- if they went along with it, we would no longer have a democracy.

And what in the last 25 years of this GOP leads you to believe that they would take a principled stand and risk their careers or more when they could just claim to be powerless to stop "the will of the people" and meanwhile rack up decades' worth of political and personal benefit in a few short years?

The mainstream GOP are sleazy cheeseballs with no spine or ethics. The base of the GOP are resentful, violent, uneducated nationalists with a frothy Cool Whip topping of Jesus as portrayed by William Dudley Pelley.

I have no faith the GOP would deny themselves the chance to just take what they can't get by democratic means. 30 years of demagoguery and spite have turned them into a John Birch party with 40 million members.

It can happen here. Don't kid yourself. And this is what it would look like at the start.

Seriously, Kep? Seriously?
You really, sincerely, honestly, trembling in your boots believe (a) Trump would try, and (b) Trump would succeed.

Frankly, he might (1 in 50 odds) try but he would not succeed.
That bears repeating: HE. WOULD. NOT. SUCCEED.

Why?
Because if he were handed the Presidency it would be because WOMEN, GOP WOMEN, didn't abandon him completely.
If Trump pulled a stunt like that on GOP women ...

Have more faith in the Republic, and its citizens, its military, its police, ... and heck, even the GOP (see: Paul Ryan's stance), more specifically GOP women.

(a) 100% sure.

(b) Too much of a risk. Why even go there when you know he's That Guy? But the moral bankruptcy of the far right -- as indicated merely by their embrace of him -- makes this probability decidedly non-zero.

For a generation we have been screamed at by the far right with their rhetoric, their Millenarianism, and their arsenal. They have told us exactly what they would do with unchecked power.

I am taking them at their word.

We apparently have decided to become a nation of hysterics.

Wow, Kep. Just ... wow.

You sound like the far righties (the RWNJ) in full Obama-rant about eight years ago (with slightly different lyrics).
