Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Good Lord...remember when SNL showed Hillary having a dance party over the Drumpf video? They really are having a party cause that is made out of pure joy!

I get it from Hillary. She's been "sitting in a room staring at a wall, not seeing the wall, seeing past it, seeing this night."

The joy from the rest of us is relief that the Earth just dodged the giant asteroid. There are other asteroids out there -- today's Republican party is an asteroid nursery. But for now, at least, we may have saved the planet. That's a good reason to party.

It's not over yet, though. We all know what happens in a horror movie if you turn away from the corpse for an instant.

Not so sure. He's got very hard views on immigration and guns. Trump is a lunchpail liberal on some issues...and a right winger on others.

Edit: ontheissues has him as very moderate but on the right.

I actually feel sorry for people assigned to figure out where he stands on anything. What a nightmare.

Don't confuse Boston College and Catholic. ;)

Or Notre Dame, or Loyola Marymount, or Georgetown, etc. There is a long list and it all starts with Fr. Hesburgh and the Land 'O Lakes Conference and Statement.

But in the meantime - pot, meet kettle.

Utah Poll from Deseret News:

Clinton 26, Trump 26, McMullin 22, Johnson 14

I don't think Hillary will pull a "Reagan" (49/50 states) but she may get close.

Speaking of a Christian

“[W]hen is the last time your pastor stood up in the pulpit and said, ‘Hey, listen, we cannot vote for Hillary Clinton because women are not to have authority over men’? If we want to follow the Bible, that would sure be a good place to start, wouldn’t it?” Daubenmire said in a YouTube video. “Rather than worrying so much about the immorality of a sinful man, what about the biblical principle that when a woman rules over a man … it’s a sign of judgment of the Lord?”

He seems nice ;)

You need to use your brain once in a while. Shut off partisan mode and think.

There is nothing conservative about attacking a country without justification.
There is nothing conservative about trickle down economic theory. Especially after we had the data from the Reagan years.
There is nothing conservative about No Child Left Behind. Nothing.
There is nothing conservative about Medicare Prescription Part D.

Rush Limbaugh may have convinced millions of mindless automatons that it's conservative but it's NOT. Is it inherently Republican? Yes. What Scott Walker did to Wisconsin, Brownback did to Kansas, GW Bush did to America is all Republican ideals. But it is NOT conservative.

Now look at Obama. Obama has had a steady, slow, sure handedness to everything he's done. Measured in his approach. That, whether you like it or not, is conservative.

The only thing that makes Republicans conservative is social issues. That's it. And that teeter totter has flung them into space.

Scooby 1964 called. It wants its definition of conservatism back. Modern day conservatism, as in at least the last 40 years, is tax cuts for the rich, pre-emptive war, massive deficits, and Talibanesque stances on social issues. Nobody gives a F what Scooby's definition is. That's conservatism. People like yourself and geezer are very quaint in your outdated notion that somehow Trump doesn't represent conservatives. He does. With the exception of opposition to trade deals, he checks all the right boxes. Eisenhower isn't running the party anymore.

I understand how it happens with today's media, but you're making the very common mistake of mistaking the Republicans for conservative. They're not. (Read your statement back: conservative isn't a "party" that's run by anyone. That's Republicanism you're talking about.

Fair enough, but conservatives not into Republican dogma are like unicorns. There's the myth, but I'm not sure anybody's actually seen one.

You're right. There are virtually none in politics. The most conservative candidates that I know of are Dems. Our state rep is a conservative (D). A lot of modern republicans are more "radical" than "conservative."
Wait, you're saying conservatives are republicans? Not my experience lately. The republicans are gone off the deep end, nationally.

That's just a reflection of how far the needle has moved. And it proves the insatiable appetite of Republicans. No matter how far they got the needle it was never far enough. If they had been satisfied with what they had accomplished in the late 90's and used the W Presidency for good instead of evil we would be in such awesome shape right now.

Instead they pushed their chips all in on NEO and left the country in shambles.
