Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

I really think the debates are where we are going to see this thing open up.

Not a lot of people really pay attention to the conventions, but they do hear and see most of the debates.
More importantly, it offers the chance for nice, tight media packages of face-to-face exchanges.

Every time Trump spurts out his verbal diarrhea consisting of nothing but smelly floaters with zero substance, Clinton is going to nail him on it...

...I think this fecal analogy works pretty well, so I'll continue with it.

Say what you want about Hillary, she does pump out some solid logs. You might not like the way they smell, but you can't help but appreciate how solid, substantive and well formed they are.

I have to believe that a lot of people who right now are throwing their arms in the air saying "they both suck" are going to realize very quickly in the debates that, while they may not like either candidate, one of these things is NOT like the other.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

I think Trumpster is setting her up. Play the oaf for months while secretly practicing behind closed doors on how to nail it in the debates. She won't see it coming.

Ok, ok I tried to type it with a straight face...

Hilllary is on now. If she hasn't buried Trump after this convention then this country if further gone than I ever thought.
She has him buried until the other shoe drops, you know its going to happen. She has been around too long for it not to happen.

Satirical piece in today's WaPo on the Acceptance Speech.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blog...ry-really-meant-to-say-on-her-historic-night/

--------
After 8 pages of comments on tD's acceptance speech while it was happening, there was nothing during Hillary's. Either you didn't watch it, or she had you enthralled as you gazed upon her visage and were transported into a state of ecstasy.

------
It's been pointed out that Hillary did not get paid for this speech. Then again, the transcript was made public.

Nice work by Hillary. She was actually a little better than I thought she'd be. The difference between the two candidates is crystal clear. You have sanity vs an insane con man. Trump needs to hire the Insane Clown Posse to do the music for his events....

That would actually be perfect. Trump's followers do kinda remind me of Juggalos.

This is what worries me.

Question though...Trump seems to me to be the very definition of someone with skeletons in his closet. Why haven't those been brought to light? There was a story I saw on HuffPo about a month ago about a rape against a 13-year old. How has something like that not been all over the news? Was it proven false? I honestly don't know what other crazy thing he could say at this point that would sink hm that hasn't already.

It's already started. All the easy jokes about choosing the meteor hurtling towards Earth went away when people realized Trump is the meteor hurtling towards Earth.

I don't think the difference between shoe #99 and shoe #100 is going to matter. The right's demonization program has run smack into the Law of Diminishing Marginal Returns.

What an amazing convention from start to finish. Inspiring and uplifting. A thorough dismantling of trump's entire campaign and platform. I wish I could have been there.

I don't see how anyone can vote for anyone but Hillary at this point. I know I'm a shill, but she is the most prepared person to ever be nominated.

There wasn't a bad speech during the prime time slots.

Agree 100%. The problem is that in the end we still get........you guessed it.........Shlt

Probably saving that stuff for the end of the campaign. Good example was the Louisiana governor's race last year. GOP candidate had been known to have been soliciting prostitutes while he was a US Senator in a scandal that broke 6 or so years earlier, so it was already out there. Dem candidate waited until the week before the election and then released a devastating ad called "Prostitutes Before Patriots" showing the senator was taking a call or making arrangements with the madam of the prostitution ring while a vote was taking place on veterans benefits. Absolutely brutal, but one the guy had no answer for. I'm guessing Trump's dirty laundry comes out in spades in October.

I can see some real reasons for voting third party:

(1) If your overriding concern is the bureaucracy, you might vote for Johnson.

(2) If your overriding concern is the plutocracy, you might vote for Stein.

(3) If your overriding concern is the tyranny of the two parties, you might vote for any third party.

I feel bad for those knucks lying awake downstairs waiting for the other shoe to drop. They wont' be able to sleep until it does.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

Yeah unless the other shoe is a smoking gun (not some, she did this, which might mean this, which could have meant THIS!!!!) it isnt going to matter. The Left is not staying home (outside of the 12 Bernie Supporters still upset he lost) I honestly think the Center Right will be.

BTW whoever pre-programed Hillbot to make sure everyone saw the difference between Saint Reagan and Drumpf should get a nice raise. Normally invoking The Gipper at the DNC would be rather dumb, but the Libertarians are in play (the Johnson thing will hold until he isnt in the debates then he is for all intents and purposes dead) and the Blue Dogs are in many ways already supporting her so why not give them a little red meat. You dont need to use his policies but with the way Drumpf is making America sound (like we are days away from being in the world of Mad Max) but throw out the "Morning in America" every so often, especially to point out to the Regan Disciples how wrong Drumpf is. You have zero to lose...

Drumpf's handlers better get him in full debate mode...if he sputters and stammers and has no answers to the questions asked he wont be coddled like he was at the Clown Show. The Networks dont need him for ratings...his PT Barnum effect is done.

Maybe, but at least with the Shrill we arent eating our...**** just to survive.

I put it this way...even at her worst President Hillary is like having high blood pressure. Sure it can cause you problems and if not held in check can cause serious health scares to occur but overall is more a nuisance than fatal in most cases. President Drumpf is like the Mutaba Virus from Outbreak...it is super aggressive, deadly and should never exist in the real world. Yes both suck, but you can live with hypertension...

As a "dont like the lesser than two evils" guy myself even I can say the equivalency doesnt work here. They arent equally bad...one is a politician I dont always agree with or trust (you know, the usual) and one is a completely unqualified troll who uses hate and bigotry to get people riled up to the point of supporting his facism. One is in bed with Wall Street, the other is in bed with Russia. There is no comparison, there is no equivalency.

But his whole point was these two conventions demonstrated that is a false equivalency.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Hillary is a 1 or a 2 to people like you who don't support her policies, a 9 or a 10 to people who are inspired by her example of a trail blazing woman, and a 6 or a 7 to people like me who are fine with her policies but wish we could have had someone with a little more activist oomph. In other words, she's a politician, within the normal politician spectrum that brought us Obama and Biden and Dubya and even Cheney.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Trump is a moldy pumpkin. It's not that he scores lower or higher on the scale than Hillary depending on your policy preference. It's that he is off the scale.

Warms my heart to see some you lefties come around! ;) All we need now is that coveted mookie endorsement. :D

I can't see the debates being good for Trump. He has zero ability to pivot, so he's going to play this the same way he did the GOP debates. I'm skeptical that's going to work.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

The debate moment of the last election cycle was when Romney tried to tell the audience that Barack didn't say Benghazi was a terrorist attack. Barack said he did. Moderator backed up Barack.

Election was over at that point.

Trump is going to get caught in some lie, he's going to roll his eyes and get ****ed off at the moderator, and Hillary is going to drive a truck through it. Then Fox is going to spend the next 48 hours explaining to everyone how Trump won the debate.
