I met the daughter of the editor of WWN in Chapel Hill in the 90s; she was going to the law school there. She told me great stories about how they wrote Ed Anger's My America (it involved the entire editorial board and a lot of booze and drugs). There was a standing prize for whoever suggested the week's "I'm angrier than a...," and she was very proud of having done it a couple times in her teens.

She said they got a few dozen actual letters every week from readers who completely believed the whole thing and wanted to report the alien / Russian agent / drug lord who was living next door disguised as the building superintendent. A couple of these letters got passed to the FBI because they were genuinely scary, so there is actually a fragment of truth to TLJ reading WWN as a trade journal. :-)

Bombing in Brussels. tD is scarier than ever. If this is what he considers being presidential...boy howdy! It is like listening to a teenager spout.

I have a kid about to turn 20. He has mostly grown out of the stage of weird logic and simpleton thinking that ignores probable consequences he doesn't like. Now we get a Prez candidate that never grew out of that stage. :rolleyes: This guy is impetuous and scary.

Mother of pearl! listening to tD interviewed by George Stephanopolis (sp). He is one 7ucking scary dude. He sounds like someone who needs meds for flight of ideas. So far he has dissed most of the European countries, said he would torture people except Obama has made that against the rules but HE would waterboard them and more, no holds barred, says they captured the terrorist and he is probably surrounded by lawyers and not talking becaouse Belgium is a wuss (paraphrasing), that Brussels is a pathetic shell of itself compared to 20 yrs ago, NATO is useless, the surrounding countries need to put troops on the ground.... and more. Yep. How to be a leader in support of a country who is suffering a terrible loss. Never once said anything realistic about how he would handle things- other than torturing the one guy, just how awful the other countries are handling it. (more support of my teenager theory. Did his parents never teach him to think before speaking?)

The more I think about it the more your teenager theory seems like a perfect characterization of Drumpf's brain. It makes sense, too. Why do we grow out of the teenage mindset? We start facing the consequences of our actions and words. Drumpf's money has always shielded him from consequences. He's basically led the kind of life that produced Uday Hussein.

In all seriousness, do the warning signs need to be in mile-wide skywriting before we get it?

Not quite sure- maybe Syria, where Russia is already bombing. (Putin promised a pull out and then sort of reneged ). I listen to the BBC so fairly UTD with what is going on in Europe, Syria, etc. Highly doubtful the general populace has even the most basic understanding of what is going on.

But that's just the "straight talkin'" that his fan base has been loving; and drawing more people into because of. He's a salesman with a theatrical side.
