Campaign 2016 - in bridge, the trump cards are really wild.

Pretty good debate so far. There's some yelling, but it's about facts and not hands or dicks.

That was without a doubt the best debate from either side all year. Didn't have the WWE aspect the Republican ones do, but prettay, prettay, pretty good.

But does WWE get better ratings than Downton Abbey? I'm looking forward to SummerSlam2016 aka the Republican Convention. If they do nominate Trump/Cruz the convention site will be renamed the "Mistake by the Lake II".

The stuff on FB right now is comedy gold. I may be embarrassed to be an American with the choices we have but man the comedic fodder is the other side of hysterical. My latest favorite- the vid asking tD to show off his body parts for 4 million $ like what tD offered for Obama's school records. Who thinks of these things?

While I usually ignore the clickbaity stuff on Facebook the picture of the Drumpf rally where everyone is raising their right hand in a very ominous looking way (Think Godwins Law) is kind of creepy and terrifying....

Even if it is proven to be false, the fact that it is believable AT ALL is pretty horrible.

There's clear videos of it, it's real.

Ugh...I preferred believing it was fake. (or maybe edited in a very misleading way)

Watching people embrace fascism turns my stomach.

He basically asked them to raise their right hands and pledge their vote to him. It's not as sinister as it looks, but the fact that it even calls forward these discussions is bad, like you said earlier.

Nice of Dems to stick to having debates about issues instead of the idiotfest on the other side. Regarding those issues, I'm not sure coming out against the auto industry bailout is a good policy in Michigan, but Bernie's gotta do what Bernie's gotta do. ;)

I'm not sure claiming there's nothing to hide in the speeches while concurrently hiding them is a good idea, but that hasn't stopped Hillary.

What do you think is going to matter more to the voters of Michigan?

Why do you think these positions taken in debates are aimed at a specific state? If it's going to be a nationally televised debate, then they're going to take positions that keep up with their overall messages. It's not like 1932, where a candidate could change message from state to state, and most voters would be none the wiser.

Maybe because the debate took place in Michigan, and the Michigan primary is coming up....

PS - A lot of Dems (perhaps most) agree with the auto bailout.

I understand the location of the debate and the upcoming primary, but to switch positions just before the primary isn't easy to do without being called out on it after so much time has passed. The people voting in the primaries tend to be better informed on the candidates than those voting only in the generals. People know the candidates by now, switching will hurt more on the national message than help in any specific state's primary. It might work in IA or NH, but not at this point.

Voters of Michigan? Whoever locks up the UAW support and the Dow Chemical voters wins the state. Plot a course for Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, courtesy tip of the cap in Lansing, and then Detroit Metro. The rest of the state bleeds red, but the lack of population in those areas doesn't help swing the vote.

I don't think he could have done anything. He basically needs to own his anti-bailout absolutism. Sometimes that works, and sometimes it doesn't. Much like what happened to Romney he's going to need to explain, quickly, his stance on his issue or he's going to get buried. I'm more happy with Hillary's ability to frame the issue at a critical moment. That will serve her well in a general election contest.
