DC looks like they'll be on a high too. Wonder if Congre$$ will override (as if they don't have better things to do).

Do you really think anything is getting done in DC from January 2015 to January 2017?

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

AP calls CO-Sen for Gardner, a pretty bad loss for the Dems. Nobody has followed suit yet.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

Peters not only won, but it looks like he will be wiping the floor with TLL. Of course, we're only at 32% reporting, not sure who hasn't reported yet. If the west side of the state is still counting, she'll make some of that up yet..

I figured that was coming. The lead has hovered between 8-10 points.

The governorship race has tightened a bit, as Snyder's lead is roughly 9-10 points. But the total vote lead has stayed steady at between 90-110,000 votes. I'd love to know who has reported. We're at 39% of the vote in, per the Freep and the Detroit News, as I type this.

Looking at this some more, I'm not sure why the Detroit Free Press called the gov race at 9:20, over an hour ago, when no one else has touched it yet.

Big one: AP calls FL-Gov for Scott. Very bad news.

I can find a precinct map/breakdown report for Oakland County, but that's it.

More weirdness.

In an election where AR-Sen flipped hard to R and an open AR-Gov went R, now this happens:

Voters in Arkansas joined those in Illinois in voting to raise the minimum wage, the Associated Press is projecting. And unlike in Illinois, the Arkansas vote is binding — the state’s minimum wage will increase to $7.50 an hour on Jan. 1.

And, moments later:

Add Nebraska to the minimum-wage party. The Associated Press is projecting that voters there, too, voted for a higher minimum wage.

Like in Arkansas, the Nebraska vote is binding. Its minimum will go up to $8 from the current level of $7.25, the federal rate. It’ll go up by another dollar a year later.

So when Dems run clear, impactful liberal policies they win, but when they refuse to say whether or not they voted for the president they lose... now who could have predicted that?

Yes. All the hot air will keep the snow removal costs down.

I have hopes, slim hopes based on the polarized government we have now, that Federal DC will run like the days of Clinton where things actually worked. But, I fear the ideology has intruded and for every step in one direction there are two steps in the other. Pretty soon well have the congressional equivalent of the 8th grade dance (or what used to be the 8th grade dance. Who knows what the whippersnappers are doing now).

The Local DC side is a model of 3rd world politics.

In other Michigan news, to the surprise of absolutely no one on both accounts:

Debbie Dingell has won election to her husband's (and prior to that, his father's) seat. Her husband was a 29-term Congressman, who took over when his father died in 1955. A Dingell has held that seat since 1933.

85-year-old John Conyers isn't really sure where he is at the moment, but he also won re-election. This will be his 26th term (I think), as he has been in office since 1965. The scary part is, he was the best Democratic candidate in an extremely solid blue district.

Awwww, Brown does not want to be flushed down. Refusing to concede. His little ego must be bruised.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

Last I looked Coakley was up by 100 votes on Baker with 1.5+ million (74%) cast.

Guam will now be even more laid back.

Ever been to Guam? Guam Time already makes Hawaii Time look like a coked-up Manhattan financial analyst with just 5 seconds to destabilize a country. This may amount to reverse time travel.

KY and a part of IN was 6. Wouldn't want people who work to vote.
