To me, the most interesting 2014 vote is the Scottish Independence vote. Does anybody know the best place to see up-to-date vote totals?

So, the trick is we need to have a vote for some kind of independence for elections. People actually show up.

It'll be interesting to see how this goes forward for the UK. You still have over a million people voting for independence, it's interesting hearing about the idea of seperate votes for English things or even a seperate English Parliament. And where does Wales and N. Ireland fit in here? It's fascinating from an outside perspective.

The Scottish Independence campaign has claimed its first casualty as First Minister and SNP leader Alex Salmond has announced he will step down from both posts in November.

Another Republican for this week:

And so it’s of interest that Mr. Walker held an event in the district earlier this summer, where he fielded a question from a voter who asked about the possible use of military force “to secure our southern border.” The congressional candidate replied:

“Well, my first answer for that is we need to utilize the National Guard as much as we can. But I will tell you, if you have foreigners who are sneaking in with drug cartels, to me that is a national threat.

“And if we’ve got to go laser or blitz somebody with a couple of fighter jets for a little while to make our point, I don’t have a problem with that, either.”

This actually drew considerable applause from attendees.

In fact, when the applause died down, someone in the audience added, “I hope you wouldn’t have any qualms about starting up a little war with Mexico.” Walker responded, “Well, we did it before, if we need to do it again, I don’t have a qualm about it.”

If Scotland is welcomed into the EU with open arms...I think the vote happens. The prospect of isolation is a bit scary next to the comfy union with a potent/relevant and economically mighty London.
