Anyone with a brain knew that profit-taking before the election was coming. *shrug*

You must have made some serious change then. That's not necessarily normal behavior - after serious run-ups prior, the Dow climbed an additional 1,000 pts. during the 3 months before each of the 2006, 2010 and 2014 midterms.

More evidence of how stupid our country is.

Using a map that abbreviates Alaska as AL. Ok...

Got an idea on how to solve the problem? Flogging is not(?) the answer.

Re: Business, Economics & Tax Policy 7: Workers of the world unite!

Guns make criminals??

Yup. A small move in an index finger can result in a jail sentence.

1. Murder is caused by rage "There are many more killings committed spontaneously and in anger (known as voluntary manslaughter) than those committed with premeditation and after careful deliberation. In fact, first-degree murder—that is, premeditated murder committed after deliberation, is the smallest category of murder. Anger or rage is associated with a wide variety of violent acts, including homicide, aggravated assault, rape, domestic violence, child abuse, bullying, torture, and even terrorism."

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/...ar-based-anger-is-the-primary-motive-violence

2. Conceal and carry has resulted in increases in violent crimes "There's an emerging consensus that deregulating concealed carry restrictions increases violent crime. This finding comes out of four recent studies published by Donohue and his team in June, as well as research from Duke and the University of Pennsylvania and from Boston University."

Start by addressing guns and you'll not only save lives and have fewer criminals, but you'll have more money laying around for education.

Do the reported prison costs include expenses for the various types of rehab and educational advancements provided to inmates that would otherwise show up as a cost elsewhere? I am not suggesting our system is flawless but the numbers may look differently if fully contextualized. Some prisons do a better job than others of actually preparing inmates for a productive life once released.

Got an idea on how to solve the problem? Flogging is not(?) the answer.

1. Divert costs from the war on drugs to educational programs etc.
2. Reduce incarceration rates for petty drug crimes thereby reducing court costs, reducing a clogged court system, free up resources to investigating and prosecuting violent crimes, reduce incarceration rates or at worst replace those imprisoned for these crimes with those of a more violent nature
3. Continually increase the footprint of legal distribution of marijuana at the state and/or federal level of which the benefits are obvious and too numerous to list

Sounds like my company is finally providing full benefits to all domestic partnerships and any children of domestic partners for the entire company. Good on them.

And to prevent the knuckledragging deplorables from stopping it, they basically extended it without the need for any kind of sanctioned marriage. Basically you just need an affidavit with the company saying you're committed to each other in mutual support.

I'm disappointed it took them this long to do this, but progress is a good thing. After extending parental leave to everyone in the company last year, this is welcome continued progress.

LMAO. Pretend Nixon hits the nail with the hammer this afternoon. :D

This article doesn't cite the study, but will help explain.
