Is a GA senator required to reside in state?

I believe they have to be a resident yes.

That isnt what matters here though...a write in cant win anyways. Only the candidates in the run off qualify unless everything I have read is wrong. Writing in Trump is basically a "null" vote. (if there is even a space to write it in)

Exactly. There's no downside.

The trust fund kids come across as self righteous, holier than thou nitwits speaking buzzwords they picked up at Swarthmore (but I repeat myself after calling them trust fund kids). The author appears to be a stereotypical out of touch east coast liberal (so standard NYT employee, though not as bad as Maggie Haberman). Even the organizations mentioned strike me as charities too good for normal people because they want to make real change (unlike the mainstream charities normal people use).

Basically, the whole thing is the NYT version of this WSJ graphic.

Humph. The trust fund kids can’t help that the grew up in an environment where they didn’t learn the “proper” language of liberalism and social justice. They are doin best they can wit what Dey got, poor dears.

i, for one, welcome them aboard with open arms.

Based on the title of that article, I'm glad it's paywalled. Who are you people that still have Times subscriptions?

There's nothing worse than a rich, east coast liberal patting other rich, east coast liberals on the back.

Most of them arent East Coast Liberals as you think of them. As someone who hates the Times I thought the article was quite good. I think unofan is being harsh.

The article is basically about trust fund kids giving up their trust funds and funding social programs. Not the usual "I want to make it look like I care" stuff either. If that is bad then what the hell are we actually fighting for?

To be fair, holier than thou, slack-jawed flyovers circle jerking about their Heartland moral superiority is a shade worse.

The NYT is Fin de Siècle Vienna hysterical heiresses. People who reflexively hate the NYT are a Christian Romance Novel convention in Iowa.

Kill them both.

The Times has a split personality. The news division is still the best in the country for most things -- WaPo is better for DC politics, but the Times is better for everything else. WSJ might still be better for finance although who knows given the rot that has set in.

But my god the NYT feature / culture section is every bit as horrific as the hayseeds say it is. I grew up with the people who write for it, and embody it, and there's a reason I unironically advocate tactical nuclear strikes on the Hamptons, Westchester County, Greenwich, and Soho. F-ck those people with their own portfolios.

Like I said I hate the Times...but this is not an example why. And the subjects of the article should be applauded not ripped. We sit here and rip the rich for taking money and never giving back or helping...then a bunch of young adults decide they will use their privilege and inheritance to push back on Capitalism and fund social programs and we rip them for that too. They are under no obligation to do what is right, will honestly gain almost nothing from it, and yet they are somehow the problem here.

I dunno...just doesn't make any logical sense to me. All people willing to help, no matter their motives, should be accepted and celebrated.

I disagree. There's clearly an element of "i want to make it look like I care" or they wouldn't all be going through the same charity aimed at trust fund babies to help them then pick their local outlets. You think the guy that claims to be a socialist, a Marxist, an anarchist, a Communist, or all of the above has any real clue what he's doing?

The NYT is great at actual news. But it's society pieces like this are as cringeworthy as any.
