Paradigms shift my friend.

My team doesn't have the bandwidth to just come in and blow up the current paradigms with a white paper. ;-)

It makes sense that we've moved on to AI being the Next Big Thing. Back in 2010, "move everything to the cloud" by 2016 had become, "Well, it turns out that isn't always practical, so let's just settle for half done and we'll say we have restrategized to have a 'hybrid cloud' environment."

After cloud computing became mundane, everyone moved on to beating blockchain into the ground. Now blockchain has become a parody of itself thanks to scams like bitcoin and NFTs. I expect this latest advancement in AI to go more of the cloud route. I don't believe that ChatGPT will fully replace writers or software developers anytime soon, but could it lead to increased labor efficiency and fewer jobs in the coming years? If ChatGPT becomes reliable enough to generate parts or all of a draft news story, draft procedure document, etc. Or if it can suggest code snippets in different languages that work and conform to recommended standards every time, that's going to enable organizations to increase output and hire fewer writers, devs, etc.

Speaking of John Oliver and protests, I'm not sure the Bud Light protest is going exactly as intended. Yes, sales of Bud Light have dropped and it is no longer the #1 beer in America, but the new #1 is Modelo. I'm sure the xenophobes are pleased with that considering their love of Mexico and all things Mexican. I'm also not sure telling everyone you're the core market for a crappy beer is quite the win they think it is. In soccer we call that an own-goal. But I'm sure international conglomerate Anheuser Busch has learned its lesson from the dramatic decrease in sales at the expense of the parent company of Modelo...a small independent startup named Anheuser Busch.

All of which is owned by another holding company which last I knew is Brazilian, and which owns about 50% of the world beer market and nearly every brand the MAGAts have ever heard of let alone bought.

Constellation

Every major beer and many "craft" beers are owned by a small handful of companies. Same with hard alcohol. And I would be willing to bet that ALL of those companies have diversity initiatives and actively support (at least on the surface) LGBTQ+ causes. Its good business practice in the long run. If they really wanted to stick it to them, they would need to actually go to small local breweries. But that will likely cost more. And in most cases, not be the swill they are looking for. And I would hazard a bet that a good number of them are not the Anti-(insert "scary" thing) that they would want them to be.

Maybe he was thinking of Corona.

They're all owned by InBev. When they bought the company that makes Modelo they spun off the American distribution to avoid potential antitrust concerns. But it's all owned by the same company.

The idea that these MAGAts are going to "own the libs" by boycotting a product made by an international conglomerate is laughable.

Yeah it's a stupid convoluted mess but Inbev owns the rights outside the US.

And yes Constellation has a DEI and partner with and support LGBTQ groups.

Is Constellation owned by InBev? I see that they acquired the US rights for Modelo and Corona from them, but I don't see anything that says they're owned by them further up the chain, though it's certainly probable in the web of subsidiaries. InBev even sued them in 2021.

It was surprising to me to see Modelo occupying the #2 spot to begin with. There are 4-5 Mexican beers that I thought would split that market, and even then I would've guessed that Coors or Miller were behind Bud.

What I meant was, Corona and Modelo were owned by the same Mexican company that InBev bought out. As someone mentioned earlier, I guess they sold NA distribution rights to Constellation.

Edit: Ah, Wikipedia comes through. Corona, Modelo and Pacifico are all brewed by Grupo Modelo in Mexico, which was acquired by InBev. Due to an anti-trust suit, InBev spun off US distribution rights to Constellation, which owns two breweries in Mexico which produce Corona, Modelo and Pacifico for the US market.
