It’s also not true that it’s been going on for a hundred years as The Great Migration was a thing and the south bled population most of the last century.

The warmer weather of Idaho, South Dakota, Montana (gained a second seat back in US House) and Utah? I know what you’re saying, and I don’t disagree that more people doesn’t necessarily mean better policies, but people are moving to those places nonetheless.

I'm not sure you want to mention the people moving to Idaho in a paean to conservatism. :-)

combined with the rapid growth in remote work, and people deciding they'd rather work on their laptop looking out over a lake or mountain range than listening to an L train rumble by in Chicago.

TBH, I would be doing quite a bit of this if I were still single. Not sure I would make the move permanently though.

IINM, the Great Migration was millions of rural blacks fleeing Jim Crow moving from the Black Belt the Rust Belt and the NYC-NJ area during WW1, and then continuing but significantly winding down after WW2. So, a torrent from 1910 to 1945 and then a trickle from 1945 to 1970. But I could be wrong.

My only “argument” is that more people are moving to red states, and not just because of weather, based on the states people are moving to. The rest is immaterial.

Fair enough.

I'd actually say Idaho is a great example of a place people are moving to specifically for red state policies. In this instance, white supremacy.

Were I 30 and unmarried it is exactly what I would be doing.

Hopefully it begins a cycle of educated infiltration of the prettier parts of derpistan (UT, ID, MT, WY) which leads to them joining the free world.

Just take half the tier 1 grads per year and scatter them as anchor humans throughout those states, then import their friends and relatives, and bootstrap liveable liberal towns. It worked in CO and OR.

My favorite thing along those lines was the family in our neighborhood who needed money to fulfill God's calling that they adopt 2 babies from China, so they were asking anyone and everyone they could to help out to the tune of $40k total. They had just bought a half million dollar home in suburban Iowa (and this was about a dozen or so years ago, just after the great recession, so it's probably an $800,000 home these days), but wanted others to fund their designer adoption.

I don't know if they were that tone deaf or just had major cajones. But either way, don't think anyone outside of their church group ever gave them anything. And no idea if they went through with it or not.

Are you going to tell god he's wrong?

Steven DeKnight, who brought us one of the greatest, T&A, blood and gore, cable series of alltime in Spartacus. Who knows how much better it would have been had star Andy Whitfield not had leukemia and died after season one, and replaced by a total stiff for seasons 3 and 4.

If this is legit (and I have no reason to think it isn't) then Faux is about to go through some more things:

I swear this wasn't the thread I posted that in...but I'm a bit punchy so who knows.

Methinks Faux's correspondent at the White House is going to have some rough goes of it at the next few PCs.

Netflix is opening a restaurant...because nothing says "No we definitely are healthy and not at all a money laundering operation!!" like opening a restaurant, in LA, themed after your streaming service.

I'm desperately trying to come up with a planet Hollywood joke but alas, I'm just unable.
