The guest is being kind to Twitter, it was pretty well known that Twitter shut off the flagging system for almost everything when Musk bought it. It is why two of his people who head that position have quit since he took over. In fact, it was the worst kept secret in the world (I posted about it here) that anyone who paid for Twitter Blue could do whatever they want. People were posting full length Hollywood movies because all security was gone if you paid. When it was finally reported by the media the Elon Stans tried denying it, even though their timelines were full of it.

Meta and Insta is not surprising...they stopped caring years ago.

So for those wondering why the DGA cut a deal here is a couple of examples of how stupid they are as a union. (not the members per se, the leadership)

This is wild: Five weeks into the Writers Strike, the president of the DGA was in production on a TV show for Netflix (which was just shut down)

I am sure that had nothing to do with why she cut a deal...

Just got off with #DGA contract dept to ask a question about language in the AI portion of the new deal. Asked why the contract doesn't protect our content from being used to train AI. The response? "Has anyone used your episodes to train AI yet? Then what are you worried about?"

And he is being serious that is what they told him. And someone in the replies shows that in fact yes AI has scenes from episodes of Sunny he directed it is using to train itself.

Membership is not happy with the deal and there could be a revolt when they vote to accept it.

That is breathtakingly stupid....

Pretty sure Garth has a rep for being inclusive... they must hate that.

(Doesn't stop them from singing Friends in Low Places)

It's not new.

In a 1999 interview with George, Brooks said, "But if you're in love, you've got to follow your heart and trust that God will explain to us why we sometimes fall in love with people of the same sex."[SUP][124][/SUP][SUP][125][/SUP] Lyrics to his song, "We Shall Be Free", features the line, "When we're free to love anyone we choose," which has been interpreted as a reference to same-sex relationships.[SUP][124][/SUP] Brooks won a 1993 GLAAD Media Award for the song.

In 2000, Brooks appeared at the Equality Rocks benefit concert for gay rights. He sang a duet with openly gay singer George Michael.[SUP][126][/SUP]

Brooks' half-sister, Betsy Smittle, who died in 2013, was a well-known musician – releasing her own album Rough Around the Edges (as Betsy) and part of Brooks' band for some years. She also worked with the late country star Gus Hardin and other musicians in Tulsa. Smittle was a lesbian, and Brooks has credited her with some of the inspiration for his support for same-sex marriage

But they must be moving there for good jobs, since they obviously command the high salaries to be able to offer & afford rents over asking in Boston. Also, you'd think developers and landlords ought to be constructing new rental units to meet the demand...except that would drive down the record-high rents they're currently making bank on, so why take the risk?

So all in all, this situation just sounds like the sweet, sweet aroma of barely-restrained capitalism doing what it naturally does for our elites - price the unwanted rubes out.
