Tried to watch catch some of Hirsch's play after reading her inspiring story a few weeks ago but B2 was up to its old ways...audio was cutting in and out and then the video froze for maybe 10 minutes or more...terribly unreliable service.
Any news on what happened to Steck? Hansen said she got injured in the pre-game warm up and didn't dress but he didn't know the nature of the injury.
Amroz dressed in her place to prevent UMD from getting a minor for not dressing 2 goalies. He was laughing during the post game handshakes saying she could hardly skate with the goalie skates she had on and that she was leaning forward just to prevent herself from falling. Regardless, it takes guts to do that...unless it was an "order" from Miller and Ambroz didn't volunteer.
Binnyrus and I were having this very conversation earlier this year when I asked what would happen if... and Binnyrus's answer was a skater dresses...and thus ever it was.
Some good photos.
Oops! Your last post came through while I was typing and sending this one.
Four Nations weekend of 2000 UMD came to Minneapolis w/o their Swedes/Finns meaning no Puputti. Backup goalie played, no other goalie or extra skaters to dress in pads, so they were assessed a minor to start both games of the series.Years ago, UMD took such a penalty for only dressing one goaltender, I tried to find which game that was but gave up before finding it..

I wonder if the rule would apply if the goaltender was in fact injured in the pregame. IMO, that would qualify as an unforseen emergency, as much as getting injured and having to leave the rink 10 seconds into the game would.
For those who don't have a subscription and don't want to sign up for one...Here's the answer to last night's question about why Steck wasn't dressed...

Backup Lana Steck, a sophomore, sprained an ankle during pregame warmups Saturday and is on crutches.
I would have to agree with dhmn, Harss looked much better today and the defense stepped up huge....blocking shots and clearing the rebounds....Hopefully Steck is back quickly
Now she's actually looking for "fringe" players?Shannon is quoted as putting word out on campus looking for a student who's played high school hockey who can come in and suit up. Hopefully there's someone willing to be Harss' backup and who knows, maybe join the team for the season as the third goaltender and have a good experience they never expected.

Just someone to fill the injury hole.. after all the years of 3 goaltenders.. having only 2 has backfired in only the 2nd weekend of the season!
I heard Steck should be good to go in a couple of weeks...apparently happened in the locker room during a warm up drill...seems to me that someone posted about something similar happening to Demeule (foot/ankle) last year in the locker room just before a game.
