BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

They've had quarterfinal rounds since I've started following college hockey a million years ago. QF weekend always falls at the start or the end of Spring Break, no matter what school participates. Reading other threads - same story. Everyone is *****ing and complaining about it. Schools have Spring Break. Maybe even before they had hockey teams. They're not going to change that. What difference does it make to any of us if the crowds are low? The fans that don't go are the ones that miss out.

Yes. The crowds have always been terrible.

Yes, but I'm talking about the economic situation here. There's only so much one can spend...

None of the home teams played last weekend. It's the same # of home games as there ever was.

I'm with you. Should have left it at top 8. As far as missing out on games, I think I'll be fine. Somehow a 6 vs 11 or 8 vs 9 best of three series between two teams with losing records in front of 900ish fans just does not seem to have a lot of sizzle for me (not that we were in that situation this year).

Yeah, it's just that it's hard to really enjoy the game in an empty arena. I actually hope UNH wins tonight because it will be a great atmosphere next weekend.

I miss the one game quarters in the old ECAC those 4 barns were rocking on the Tuesday night some of the best games ever played were on that night. And if you lost that night your season was over !

This is not that round, but speaking of ECAC, the most exciting night I've ever seen was the 1977 ECAC semi-finals at the old garden. UNH beat Cornell in 2OT, 10-9. Then, in the second game, we were trailing Clarkson (and Dave Taylor) by two and scored three in the last five minutes to win, 7-6. The place was nuts, and for those of you who never had the experience of the old Garden, three times as loud as TD has ever been...

Speaking as a (the?) Merrimack fan, congrats on a decisive win. You guys are clearly the class of ncaa hockey. Eichel really is filthy. F BC and make HEA proud in the national tourney.

From the other Merrimack fan, what he said.:D
