Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Not in 2009.

Sean

I think that's called the "BC rule." It states: Whenever you can get BU and BC, milk it for all it's worth. It also states that, in the event BU and BC both lose in the semis, a third place game will be created right after the Hockey East championship, and will be televised.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Nice try. You need new material.

well, i've been right so far so whatever you all say (and i've been right about the Eagles as well)........listen,i know i'm a sandbagger, like Mookie, but that's ok because he's a Terrier sandbagger ;)but the way your team is playing DOES look like a lot of the BC teams of the past 10 years so if you think i'm blowing smoke, so be it.. Sioux and Terriers would be my pick for the final. I think Miami as well in Boston and Minnesota too.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

bu currently the final #1 seed and gets jan brady to start things off.

I remember when BU made it to the Garden in 2009 as the #1 seed and was thrilled because we were going to play at 5 after several times having the second game delayed because BC and/or UNH never being able to play a normal 3 period game. And I was hoping that our game would go 2 OTs. And then hearing that they were swapping our semi game to the 8pm game because it was against BC. And got to the Garden and saw the UML-Northeastern game got to OT. It's like BU is destined to not play a Hockey East semi till 9pm that Friday.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Did NESN ever correct their horribly wrong claim that Eichel had set the season point total record? I did hear the studio guys say it was the most since Drury. Poor Garrity, McEachern, etc. - no respect.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

I was as ill-prepared for the Grzelcyk SH-ENG as NESN was. I thought "nice clear...it looks like it is headed for the net....wait!...there is no goalie!.....it's a goal!".

As you know, Bomber, Jay Pandolfo had to beat a goalie on all three of his SHGs. He actually beat two goalies since his third goal was a "welcome to the game" slapshot from the blue line against the recently inserted back-up for NU". Speaking of, I saw Jay at the game last night.

Not to be an alarmist (and I know it's only Sunday), but now they're saying "wintry mix" Friday night with temps around 20. Not fun for those of us who have to drive in (and then back to the "Worcester hills")

they did start all that banter by sayin "hockey east era". but that only excuses Garrity

I would be just as much of an alarmist as you but the weather report I saw this morning didn't have that. Hmmmmm. It is going to be cold, though.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Speaking as a (the?) Merrimack fan, congrats on a decisive win. You guys are clearly the class of ncaa hockey. Eichel really is filthy. F BC and make HEA proud in the national tourney.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Okay Sean, can your database handle this one?

Rodrigues has 40 more points than he did last year (54 vs. 14). What is the largest single season point improvement for a Terrier? I know Chris Drury had a big jump from his freshman season to sophomore (don't recall his freshman point total, but I guess sophomore season was 67 points). And McEachern went from I think 56 or 52 to 82 from Sophomore to Junior.

BU Hockey (tm Bomber): keeping Sean Pickett busy in 14-15. :D:D

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Usually, by the end of the home season I am starting to get "hockey-ed out." Not this year. This team is so fun to watch I wish this season doesn't end.

A great, dominating weekend that gives me some confidence that they will fare well the next few weekends. They are the youngest team in the country but are starting to play like veterans.

Yeah, I'm not seeing this wintry mix either. High of 43 and low of 25 or so with no precipitation. Either way, these games aren't getting moved, can't postpone and then be forced to move the NCAA tournament.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Who do we want Friday?

Lowell? Schooled them this season, but hard to beat a good team three times.
ND: Trap and goalie schooled us, revenge?
UNH: Young, inconsistent defense, but they score, they're hot and their goalie is feelin' it.

I want the 5pm game. I hope #16 can play.
