Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Solid win on Saturday. Its been awhile since I recall a win like that where you beat a talented team playing a good game against you due to harder work and more skill! Screw Michigan baby!

I'm not here to judge what Mookie and Bomber want to do with their respective popsicles  but I am very optimistic about this team. Eichel has the best vision of any hockey player I've seen in a long time over here, and he's making the entire team better. The team just has more talent than we've seen since 2009 top to bottom and even the D is playing better than I expected.

Lastly, as I think Bomber noted I too have noticed the complete change in offensive style with the new coach. Its a breath of fresh air which is sorely needed in my section of Agganis. ;)

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Read Scott Wieghart's recap of the game. He starts with a great lede, which he then picks up again midway in the piece.

He quotes 97 year old Red Berensen b****ing and moaning about about the video reviews, mindless (probably the right word) of the fact that the refs on the ice called the BU goals good in the first place. And then Scott quotes Quinn with a couple of smart a** comebacks. Some people last year were complaining the DQ was emotionless. Nice to see his feisty side surface.

This is by far my favorite idiotic coach rant since Jerry whined about the BU team thanking their fans at Conte. Quality stuff.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Saw Kings and Ducks scouts in the bathroom, can't imagine either of them were there thinking they had a legitimate shot at Jack.

Do you trade Kesler and ur 1st for Jack? you need to be ready for anything. Lets say Buf is at #2 (unless McDavid dies he is going #1) and you want an established #1 Center. Do you made the trade? I'm not saying they would but teams need to scout every player to have an understanding of their skill level in-case they find something in their inbox.

Yale is one of two ECAC arenas I'm dying to go to (the other is Lynah) so I'm excited about that game.

.

this surprises me, i didnt think there was ANY rink you had not been to. BU must have not played there then:)

I was planning to go to that game. IIRC, my reason for not going was weather-related.

In other news, I can't remember if it was here in this thread or one of mookie's awesome threads, but I believe he actually nailed it - BU vaults up to 6th in the poll/pole/pohl. I know. It means nothing. Still, it's fun to see.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Mixed feelings about the jump to #6 in this poll, especially with Providence dropping to #8. Going into the season I thought that the Friars were the team to beat. Maybe they thought so, too, and lost their edge. They're going to be pumped, especially Friday night in their tiny teacup of a rink.

A week ago most of us would have been okay with a home-and-home split with PC. Maybe that still should be the case.

PC has played without Jankowski in three out of four games as he was injured in the season opener. Gilmour and McKenzie who were their top two d guys missed the Ohio State games. Parisi who is one of their other dmen got injured vs the USA squad and McKenzie and Gilmour came back this past weekend.

Jankowski is key as everyone gets pushed back in the lineup as he is their top forward...don't let Mauermann confuse you lol

Plus Gillies hasn't been very good either....this PC team didn't win a game in Boston last year at all

I'd be happy with a split. I don't expect the team to go undefeated. However, just based on how they play regardless of the opponent I'm upgrading my optimism about this season a bit.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

all y'all read the TMQ article on the home page?

interesting throw away at the end on wisconsin having an exhibition vs st norbert. offered as an alternative to canadian colleges coming down.

poor JD would be torn if westfield st played up the road at the newton highlands :D

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Any word on the Macleod injury- We are pretty thin after the top 6 defensemen

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Jankowski and Parisi could be back for PC this weekend according to their beat writer...

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Q said Sat night he should be OK.

Likely was only a two-game suspension and 15 hours of community service, so he'll probably be in the lineup Friday.
