BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Came from a couple of sources in the recruiting community and there was an article a while back suggesting BC interest in both Doyle and Mastrosimone, who, according to one guy, grew up a BC fan (like Eichel). Doyle was a standout at a few tournaments this past summer, but certainly was on both schools' radar before that. More often than not, BU and BC are fishing in the same high-end pond: Farabee, Cassetti, probably Moynihan, too.

Marshal Warren as well.

Video of 2016 recruit Dante Fabbro firing two power play goals in Penticton's 6-0 win vs. Vernon. RD has 9-31-40 in just 25 games after missing a stretch for the World Junior A Challenge.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

BU gets a commitment from a top 2001 defenseman, 5-10, left shot Braden Doyle, from Lynnfield. Currently teaming with Robert Mastrosimone on the top-rated Shattuck St. Mary's bantams. 7-23-30 in 35 games so far. Reportedly came down to BU and BC. BU's third 2001 recruit, along with Mastrosimone and Case McCarthy.

USHR (at Beantown NAPS last summer)

These kids are 14, probably be lucky if 1 of them actually make sit to BU

NTDPs Clayton Keller is the only player on the planet averaging two points per game against NCAA D-1 competition this year.

Kept it going today with G+2A vs. St. Cloud.

NHL Central Scouting 2016 midterm rankings announced today. Among North American skaters:
#8 Clayton Keller

#30 Chad Krys
#146 Patrick Harper

Goalie Jake Oettinger is eligible for 2017 draft.

This reminds me of a Cross-Country result where the lowest aggregate score of the first 5 finishers wins the meet. OK. You win with 77. Why don't you cut the Harper kid loose!;)

Krys better pick up his game. If all five aren't drafted in the first round, I will be disappointed.

Since that list is only North American Skaters, I would imagine that once you add in the Euros and sprinkle in a goalie or two, Krys will be middle of second round and Fabbro will be the one on the 1st round bubble (of course there is still lots of time for things to move around).

Either way, it has to be the most talented group of recruits in NCAA history, at least as far as NHL future is concerned.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Gophers had four first rounders in the 06-07 class. Two of them turned out to be pretty terrible, but that's drafting 18 years olds for ya. It would match that since MacAvoy is not in the class.

FWIW, both Future Considerations and International Scouting Services have all five--McAvoy, Keller, Bellows, Fabbro and Krys--among the top 30. Those two scouting services include both N.Americans and Europeans in their rankings.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Spoke to an advisor this week who said that a big BU recruit will be flying off to juniors. Wouldn't say who though.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Yeah, Saint John still thinks they're getting Eichel after the all-star break.

Eichel is still young enough to play another season in the QMJHL...

Of the NTDP 4, I think Keller was selected in the OHL Draft (Windsor), Krys in the Q Draft (Moncton), Bellows and Oettinger in the WHL Draft (both by Portland). If it's Keller or Oettinger, that will hurt BU even more than if it's Bellows or Krys IMO based on BU's needs and positional depth.
