Would love to know if BC was able to offer the same thing as BU in regard to Eichel. If so, unless he has some ties to BU, I don't quite understand how BU would win any bidding war with BC over any "neutral" player at the moment. But, I don't claim to know Eichel nor will I attempt to get inside his head.
Maybe a better question to ask is if Jacko is going to be around by the time some of these recruits a few years out are due to head to Egganus.
If you want to waste time, sure check
Ton of kids would go to BU over BC, laughable to think other wise. Charlie Coyle for one. Davi Warsofsky.
You now have
Eichel, by far the top F at his age, no one else even close.
McLeod on D, National dev program kid, by far the best 96 D in this area.
O'Regan, who was star at world tourn last week
Matt Grzelczyk-LD, natl team, very very good.
Sam Kurker, top 35 central scouting
Kevin Duane, 6'4" 215 had over 60 pts at Brunswick school, ct kid with several bc players in his backyard
These are 6 locals who are as good as anyone BC has coming in. At least 3 of whom could be high nhl picks
BU's demise is greatly exagerated

"I was going back and forth between Boston College and Boston University," he said. "I like the way (BU's) campus is set up. It feels right to me. I could see myself being there. I had a feeling in my stomach last week that BU was the place to be.
One of his close friends, defenseman John MacLeod, is also headed to play at BU.

Apparently, that question was answered to the Eichels’ satisfaction, which is all that matters.
So while stuck on hold with HP, I did look it up. Nope, no similar question asked about Hannifin, altho in the same timeframe you did manage to post a snarky comment about an “older” UML recruit.
And while the hold time dragged on, I peaked in on Eagle Action and—surprise, surprise—there you were, chest-pounding about irking BU re whether Eichel ever reports. Probably earned a round of guffaws from the regulars. Were you awarded another Pinhead Nation achievement sticker on the spot?

As was mine -- whether you inquired similarly when Hannifan verballed--which you conveniently sidestepped. It was a legit question as I didn't know

It was a legit question as I didn't know but clearly someone is sensitive this time of month
BU's problem hasn't been a lack of top end recruits, it's been keeping them out of bars, prison and the NHL. And even those that do stick around tend not to develop very well under Parkah's tutelage and at the same time really fail to grasp the team concept.
By the way Hokydad, you STILL haven't answered my question about why Michael Vechionne hasn't committed anywhere? Last time I checked, you insinuated that just about every D-1 powerhouse in the country was after him. So again, what gives?

Coyle and Warsofsky weren't neutral. They were going to BU from day one. I don't claim to know about the other kids you mentioned, but I don't remember hearing anything about how they all picked BU over BC like Eichel did. And I never said anything about BUs demise. Their relative demise has already taken place since 2009. We'll see if they rebound with all these great recruits (as if they weren't getting great recruits before).
Thanks for the info.
A lot of kids would rather be in the city than the suburbs.
A lot of kids would rather go to a bigger school with considerably more academic programs on offer.
The facilities for hockey at BU are even better since Agganis (BC previously had a big advantage with Conte over WBA).
The new West Campus high rises are superior to anything on the Chestnut Hill campus.
And not everyone is attracted to a Catholic higher education.
Sure, they battle for a lot of the same kids. But some kids will just prefer one over the other because they are very different places, and they will naturally gravitate to one or the other.
Vive la différence!
“In my opinion, of all the players who have been through the Junior Bruins organization, he has the potential to be the best of all. He does everything so well. He shoots it better than everyone. He thinks it better than everyone. He’s an effortless skater who seems to get up and down the ice in three strides. He’s tall, lanky, and plays long – he’s just so good at protecting the puck with players on him. He holds it away from defenders so well, and always with his feet moving.
“He also scores great goals. He has a great release. And he beats you 1-on-1. He’s great in the locker room, too. He was our captain – as a 14 year old. He’s a big time player who is mature beyond his years. The sky’s the limit. I’d be very surprised if he’s not a first round NHL pick.”
