Lane would be the fifth forward for BU's 2012 recruit class. Trying to confirm he's for 2012. He's a 5-10, 178 left-shot forward from Rochester. Last year, had a 9-13-22 line for the U17s. Before the NTDP he played for the Mississauga, Ont. Minor Reps, scoring 93 points in 72 games. At the recently completed Four Nations tournament in Switzerland, he scored goals in two of the three games, one unassisted.
He and 2013 recruit Matt Grzelcyk will be at Agganis Arena on when the U18s play BU on Jan. 8.
In a recent post, USHR suggests his game is speed and he's more of a playmaker than a finisher.

Lane would be the fifth forward for BU's 2012 recruit class. Trying to confirm he's for 2012. He's a 5-10, 178 left-shot forward from Rochester. Last year, had a 9-13-22 line for the U17s. Didn't expect Matt Lane to go the NCAA route, thought he was going to go major junior like his brother. Glad to have him though, hopefully he continues to improve and can contribute once he arrives.
This commitment makes me ask a few qs though:
1) Wonder what the deal was with Darcy as it seemed we still had a scholarship?
2) What's the goaltending situation going to be like next year? Are we seriously going to have one scholarship goalie?

1. I didn’t spin anything. The conclusion was from USHR which posted on Oct. 25 about uncommitted prospects and described Lane as “Excellent skater who can make plays. Can he finish?”
2. If I was looking to spin anything—which I wasn’t—I wouldn’t have included the AHR review with all the “warts.”
3. Yesterday on the United States of Hockey site, Chris Peters, the former Communications Director of USA Hockey posted a review of U18 players at the Four Nations tournament:
1. USHR reported that Darcy never received offers from BU or BC. It's possible that his slow start this season and being downgraded from A prospecs to B by Central Scouting were factors.
2. BU is looking at goalies and will add a second one to the recruit class. I have no names at this point, but I hope they're looking at the St. Michael's Buzzers goalie and a few in the USHL.

That goalie to join O'Connor may be BU's most important recruit, since we all know you need strong goaltending in order to compete for the prizes.
I have heard conflicting reports on O'Connor.
The negative side said that he wasn't that highly thought of, was big and slow, and was maybe another Rollheiser at best.
The positive side said that he has improved greatly, especially in the areas of quickness and consistency, over the past two seasons.
But even the positive side said that he was no sure thing. But who really is?
Karson Gillespie and Brett Bennett each came to BU as top prospects, maybe Gillespie even moreso. Yet neither really panned out.
And we can look at John Curry, from third-string walk-on to All-American and Hockey East Player of the Year.
Bentley has a very good goalie, and I doubt he was heavily recruited. St. Francis X's goalie from California was very good, and he is playing college hockey in Canada.
Recruiting goalkeepers is not an exact science, but the Terriers need to get this one right. Especially since they will need to go with two freshmen again.
Millan and Muse won national titles as freshmen, so that shouldn't be a concern.
Hopefuly, BU has someone in the pipeline that they feel confident about.
Might it be someone from Europe, through connections with Hasanen?
