BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

I just looked - not too many uncommitted on either the U-18 or U-17 teams. I don't know anything about any of the uncommitteds other than Greenway, and all I really know about him is that he is Jordan's brother.

Heisenberg hasn't listed Oettinger as committed either. Poor Jake, he is the Rodney Dangerfield of recruits...

defkit--you're probably looking at Heisenberg's 2015 list. Chris started his 2016 list in May and all subsequent commitments for 2016 and beyond are listed there. So don't worry about Oettinger; he committed in June and is getting the enough respect.

Besides Greenway, the only uncommitted U18 I'm aware of is 5-11, 204 forward Patrick Khodorenko, from California. In last October's Select 70 Uncommitteds from OTB, Khodorenko was #9 and Greenway was #13. Krys was #6. Max Gildon, a big d-man on this year's U17s was #3. Getting Gildon AND Farrance would be simply remarkable.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

When he said not unexpected I thought Greenway, but someone already asked and he said no. Barratt?

I'm going to guess it is Greenway. If he wasn't at liberty to say (he shouldn't be until the player has announced), then how else would he respond if someone asked if it was Greenway? I don't know any reason why the "not unexpected" would apply to anyone else. So I'm going with Greenway, but hoping it's Gildon. :D

He could have not responded.

Jeff Cox tweeting that another NTDP player is getting ready to commit to BU. Any guesses?

While Cox has some good sources, he does have a track record of jumping the gun a few times on stories that turned out to not be entirely true, so I wouldn't speculate until something is actually said with a name.

Jack DeBoer, 6-2, 170 RW, led NJ Colonials Bantams in scoring (27-35-62 in 35 games); added 46 points for Madison, NJ, HS. Will be a sophomore at Salisbury this season, so is likely to arrive in 2018 along with Jake Wise.

USHR June review of Liberty Bell games had DeBoer as its #2 2000 forward
Jack DeBoer (#19 Constitution, R, 6-2/160, ’00) DeBoer, the son of newly appointed San Jose Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer, is a blue chip prospect and, like Goldowski, will likely attract NTDP attention throughout the upcoming season, which he will play at Salisbury. A tall, lanky center out of the New Jersey Colonials organization, DeBoer led the team in offense with a 27-35-62 line in 35 games. He has a lot going for him -- an NHL frame, high-end shooting ability both from a standstill and in stride, and soft mitts. He makes smart decisions with the puck, passing at the right time and using his reach and body positioning to shield the puck instead of over exposing as many high-level players do at his age. His skating is a work in progress as he lacks both agility and balance, but that will surely come.

BU also received a verbal from a second top 2000 forward, Tyler Weiss, 5-11 from Raleigh, NC

Tyler Weiss (00) commits to Boston U. Don Mills Flyers forward has some nasty stick skills. Great offensive vision. Fluid skater. #NTDPwatch

Jake Wise, Jack DeBoer & Tyler Weiss are three big-time 2000 recruits for Boston University. Excellent recruiting trail success. #Terriers

2016 recruit Kieffer Bellows, interviewed on The Pipeline Show (segment 5) last night, discussed his decision to join the NTDP U18s and his "100%" commitment to BU.
