BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

..good point. Jokes aside.. Agganis has a more pro feel to it than a college hockey arena (just my opinion).

It's as much suited for Charlie Sheen, as it is for the Muppets..:). The arenas you mentioned (+ few more barns).. have that College gamenight feel. WBA..yup, it had that. Agganis.. nope. Heck even Notre Dame got it right.

Anyway, movie theater/no theater.. won't make a difference this wknd. Spring Break at Matthews, Spring Break @ NU.. Spring break on the minds of our hockey team (since Jan 1st pretty much).. much as i'd like to be able to play Lowell in the playoffs for more redemption.. with the team we have left.. it'll be 2 & out this wknd.

PS. Agganis ..Since BU's been at the butt end of all jokes this season.. let you guys have the male pregnancy project as well.. :)

Actually, I'm thinking the opposite. I am having A Day at work. The last two times I've been in these Code Red situations at work were the days of the Beanpot Final and the home game against UMass. I'm overly stressed and flustered and brought that to the games with me those nights and BU lost, so if all goes according to form, congrats on the victory tonight. ::sob::

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

Agganis is my favorite road trip because of the opponent, not the arena. If BU played at Lawler that would be my favorite road trip to.

Agganis is a nice arena. But it's not a nice *college hockey* arena. It reminds me of Lowell. Nice facility, but it lacks the college hockey feel.

"College hockey feel" What is that? Bad sight lines and cramped seating? Disgusting restrooms and roller-rink concessions?

I'll take the Tsongas Center any day of the week, thanks. It's clean, comfortable, has good sightlines and the concessions are good. Beer is available if you're into that sort of thing. Student support goes the way of the team, which is unfortunate yet understandable when you have a team that lacks hardware and the resume. Last season during the 5 win nightmare, you could have set up a circus tent in the student section and no one would have complained. This year it's been packed and they've done an excellent job. Of course I may be biased, but it doesn't mean I'm not right.

Agganis - Very nice. My only complaint is that there are too many boxes, you can't see play from the concourse like you can at the Tsongas. Quiet, but I suppose that's a reflection of the university pricing out the real fans.
Conte - Nice enough, I guess. Better basketball arena. Awfully quiet
Whit - Always seems so dark in there. Otherwise a fine place to watch as long as things aren't being thrown at you. Top notch fan support everytime I've been there.
Schneider - I actually enjoy a game here. Sightlines can be poor if you get a bad seat, but it's never crowded and the seats are comfortable.
Lawler - Still a joke. Seatbacks don't change anything. One of the quietest student sections in the league. Also gets my vote for worst concessions in the league
Matthews - Historic blah blah. Not bad from the balcony. Really, really bad from the lower seats. Great student support. Cheerleaders? Really?
Alfond - Awful seating for visitors and maybe the dirtiest arena in the league. Probably great if your a fan of Maine or driving four hours into the abyss.
The Gut - I enjoyed my trip up there. Burlington is great. Students are a little too UMass-y with the four letter words, but at least they get involved. Seats hurt by the end of the game though.
Mullins - Meh. Again, better for basketball (I would imagine.) Rock head student population can barely choke out the four letter words while rushing off to burn a mattress. You also have to drive to Amherst, which is itself a chore.

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

Agganis is better than Lake Whit. At least people aren't rushing out with 3 minutes left in a tied or 1 goal game.

I also like the people season ticket holders that sit around me too which helps, even
Rover. :D

...and the northeastern jersey carousel continues. Hopefully they were smart enough to take the fenway patches off.

Lowell has Jasmine.

Game over

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

Anyone have an update? HE is stuck at 9:21 left in ghetto second. Thanks.

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

Five minutes left in the game . . . and NU pulls the goalie! Still 4-2 BU.

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

NU deserved a better fate last night. That was anything but a 5-2, well, 4-2 game. One shorty and at least two weak goals by BU. Otherwise a fairly evenly played game.

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

I thought the BU student section stepped it up last night. I heard a lot more cheers than I have heard at the last four games combined. The team? Not so much. C- effort. But, good enough to beat a team and goaltender with issues.

Can we arrange to play AT PC next weekend? You know, defer on home ice?

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

Yeah I like the Friday night ride to Prov.

Anyone have any info on that person in the stands who got hit with the puck last night? Looked pretty serious but I wasn't close enough to see.

Re: BU/Northeastern Fri/Sat End of Reg Season

NU hasn't had cheerleaders at hockey since 08-09.
Matthews great when it's full. Frankly i think the renovation was lacking. I'd like to see the front archway torn down and restored to what it once was... A beautiful marquee entrance. As for sight lines, it's 100 years old, the balcony isn't even original to the place... Get over it. Agganis is nice for sight lines/ concessions but I agree it lacks the college hockey atmosphere. That said, Good luck in the playoffs. $10 says we win tonight and there will be 2 full rows in the doghouse and 10 NU fans in the lower bowl. Also, pretty classy of BU students to threaten rape last night. Especially considering... well... everything. See you in a few hours.
