BU Hockey '24-'25: Reloaded for another Frozen Four run

Nothing worse than the dump and look to change up every 30 sec🤬

and thank the lord for Jack Hughes being the adult in the room the entire 2nd half of the game…getting between Kaplan and “pick a number for pedd st” and even between lachance later on. These kids 🙄🙄🫣🫣

Trying to wrap my head around the fact that the team that looked so awful in the Yale game is now going to be playing for the national championship. Holy cow.

This team knows how to win tournament games. They did just enough to win tonight, and sometimes that’s all it takes. Now Western will be a handful, but we have a shot at the title. It’s much more enjoyable on these trips to actually be in the final!

Loved having Jack Parker and family sitting to our right down with all the fans tonight!

Go BU!

Nah, WMU took out defending champs in OTs, you guys coasted over Pedo State. I remember 95 well when Maine went multiple OTs to get a rested BU team and got crushed. Take it to the bank

There's nothing sweeter than playing the last game of the year! I wish I was there.

Some quick game thoughts:

Strong first period overall. Solid B. They were skating and staying on-top of pucks. I thought The Nittany Lions suffered from "bright lights syndrome" early on.

Second period was a B+ 'cause that's when they scored. Could have had more, but PSU's goalie stood tall. You know, except when he didn't and lost that puck under his pads. A nice gift for sure, but credit to Jack Hughes for driving to the net.

Through two periods, Cole Hutson was the best player on the ice. An absolute beast. They'll need that tomorrow.

The third period was a D-. I get not taking chances, but I hated how passive they were. Not their game. Held on for dear life. Bleh.

Bomber's order of impact on this run:

  1. Cole Hutson
  2. Big Mike
  3. Jack Hughes
  4. Quinn Hutson
  5. Cole Eiserman

Honarable mention: Tom Wilander. He's been super solid and his breakouts have been on-point.

Western is the #1 scoring team in the country. Their goalie doesn't scare me. Could be a barn burner

BU Hockey: One More

Agreed with Bomber's grades. I was pleasantly surprised at how good they looked in the first period. Very even and well played first period. I don't know what they were thinking in the third period. Were they getting nervous/anxious realizing they were 20 minutes away from playing a national championship? Who knows. After seeing Penn St dismantle Maine a couple of weeks ago I was expecting much more from them but when BU is on their game, they are ON their game. That Cole to Cole goal was gorgeous.

However - WHAT was up their "vaunted" power play??? Again, as I've whined about all season, maybe winning the face off to start a power play might have given them the chance to control play in the offensive zone. Sascha's penalty was very stupid and I actually thought the review they did was to see if that was a slew foot. I didn't even see the potential major in question.

Do we know if the NCAA used the St. Louis Blues' PA announcer? Because he kept saying "Boston Terriers" instead of Boston University Terriers. That was a major fail in this tournament. Though....maybe let's allow it for Saturday since BU won with him saying it like that.

BU is the away team tomorrow, right?

They will need to have a much better game to win and for that to happen it will have to be the best game they have played all year. Much more aggressive pace or they will be done early.
