They have no chance at trophies this year playing like this defensively ...
while Caron hasn’t been outstanding I think he would be ok with a solid D in front of him.
LThe scoring ability is top notch (actually tied for #2 with Denver at 3.9/game). Quite unbelievably, this is a BU team giving up 3.4 per game which is 56/61 in the nation. Even worse - Caron is 74th is GA and 71st in SV% with .895. I can’t remember the last time defense and goaltending were rated so low. Usually when our program struggles, it’s a lack of scoring. The success of the program will be determined by how much everyone gets better with keeping pucks out of our net. I think some strides were made this weekend with trying to just eliminate time the other team has with the puck, but there still needs to be better awareness around our own net covering people more consistently - and those breakaways against have got to go - maybe 1 per game at most, not 5 or 6.

I think we need to see more of Lacroix. Maybe get a little competition going. Up the ante a bit.
Yegorov enrolled at BU early and is now a member of the team for the spring semester. I don't believe this is to take over the starting role. If anything, it's more likely to get him out of Omaha which is a total dumpster fire of a USHL organization. I also think it'll be beneficial for him to integrate into the program for this semester so that when he (presumably) takes over the starting role in the fall, he's already familiar with the routine, practice schedule, etc.
Ultimately, the goaltending is not the core of our problems, it's the defense. Lacroix hasn't done anything to show he's an improvement over Caron anyway. He wasn't that highly touted coming in, my understanding was his role was to be a solid backup option for Caron. He accelerated last year as an insurance policy against Caron getting hurt because the other two goalies were completely unplayable.
Yegorov could enroll in school without joining the team for the second semester, thereby saving a year of eligibility. That is an option, especially if there are no plans for him to play. Or already being a NHL second round draft choice, he may not be expected to stick around for four years, anyway.
You are correct about the goaltending. Caron has not been as consistent as he was the entire second semester last year, when he was excellent. But that is more rooted in the defense than on him. Lacroix has looked fine when he has played, certainly a capable backup.
"Dumpster fire" is a kind description of Omaha this season.
Part of me is curious about the shenanigans going on in Omaha. The other part really doesn't care, mostly because I probably won't understand it anyway.
No chatter about this weekend? I'm not heading to Durham tomorrow - thankfully the game is on NESN.
The plan is for Yegorov to be rostered. In yesterday's media call, Pandolfo declined to say more than that he's enrolled, until he's "officially on the roster." That requires passing NCAA Clearinghouse, which should be no problem b/c he's an excellent student.
Being on the roster leaves open the option to see some action. Agree about four years being very unlikely. I'd imagine this move had the blessing of the Devils, whose Head of US Scouting is Scott Lachance and whose Exec VP for Operations is former Pando teammate Martin Brodeur.
Earlier this week, Yegorov was on the Locked On Devils podcast. Discusses his reasons for choosing BU at 25:19.
Much more on the blog
Scarlet saw you were looking for tix..just read on the UNH Men's Hockey Facebook page that someone had 4 tix to move and it looked like they were giving them away...Anyone can access that page as it's UNH's social media..
Awww, thanks HR. Appreciate you looking out for me. I decided not to make the trip. The game is on NESN so I can watch (or change the channel!!) from the comfort of my living room.
