BU / BC Home and Home 12/2 - 12/3 Could we really be done with each other by Dec 3?!

Re: BU / BC Home and Home 12/2 - 12/3 Could we really be done with each other by Dec

Yes, the BC goal would've been negated. This happened in the 09 NCAA tournament (I want to say in one of the games in Bridgeport), if a goal is found to have been scored, it counts and everything after it is voided.

I understand that everything is suppose to be voided, but would if there is a 5 minute major penalty that takes place to stop play? Is that ignored and the player allowed to stay in the game?

That, I'm not sure.

I hadn't been to Egganus Arena for a few years but I was shocked at how not hostile it was. It didn't seem that loud or hostile to me. I have to imagine winning at Engelstad was much tougher of a game from an environment standpoint.

Obviously I had a few favorite moments from last night but you should have seen the face of the fanboy in the front row when Billett was announced as the starting goalie. There he was with his sign that showed Milner's stats against BU (which are admittedly terrible) and they announce Billett and he just put his sign down and looked like he was going to cry.

The "Milner's better" chant was also priceless after BU lucked out and got their only goal from behind the net. Oooooooooops.

To me the difference between Fri and Sat night from a BC perspective is that BC did not make many mistakes at all. BU didn't get a ton of Grade A scoring chances. Much like how BU buried their chances on Friday, BC just absolutely sniped goals 2,3, and 5 and buried it when they had the chance.

like the majority of the fanboys, since you didnt watch the third either, you missed the 'not from boston' chant with about 30 seconds to go in the game. priceless, even in defeat.

Question for the folks who are more observant than me and pay better attention to the warmups. Is it normal to have the guy who isn't starting warming up between the pipes facing shots

Of course.

Interestingly enough, Patrick Brown was dressed and participating in warmups last night but did not dress for the game.

The fanboys are so DUMB. That was the most priceless thing I've seen from fanboys since they cried in front of the cameras in 2006 in Worcester.

Durrrrr... what is the black thing they're hitting around with their sticks? Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

But they wear jerseys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So predictable that Carmine would finally ask for time off from the drive through window to post here when the Iggles finally win one of the three contests with BU this weekend. :p

You must not know the definition of a Grade-A scoring chance. According to the official score sheets, BU had 21 Grade-A chances. BC had 13.

Re: BU / BC Home and Home 12/2 - 12/3 Could we really be done with each other by Dec

for which game?

who knows. those stats are misleading in games dominated by penalty minutes as the last two games were. i just perused the fanboy blog to see if there was any mention of grade A chances, and there wasnt much other than a note after each of the first two periods.

a certain blogger was more inclined to cry about the reffing upwards of 20 times. my favorite was the insinuation that the refs were calling BU offsides as retaliation for Parker yelling at them. cant make that stuff up.

I loved that at the same time as the "Milner's better" chant from the band side, the other section was doing "Milner, Milner, Milner, you suck" - way to be on your game, fanboys.

Often York will have Venti in net during warm ups with the starting goalie taking shots at him. I never read anything into who's taking shots in warmups.

I believe the goalies usually rotate in warmups.

yeah, and i never notice that stuff but during the warmups for friday night's game i did notice because i was trying to figure out who York was starting and that's what they did...................... I didnt know the fateful decision until Milner skated to the crease when warm ups were over

I'm not as down on BU as one might expect. Taking 2 out of 3 vs BC is good in any year, and they actually put an effort into the Sat game. 1) Millan was atrocious, and they'll only go as far as he can take them, and 2) they had a stunning inability to make a move at the net and put the puck in. I counted about 3 "Saponari hat tricks" which is when a player blows three chances to score into a wide open net. Note to Parker: work on the one-timer in practice, particularly how to make sure the puck is actually on your stick before you attempt to shoot.

Those statements aren't mutually exclusive;)

The starting goalie skates out first and takes reps first.

Beat me too it. Yup, first man on the ice for each team, for warmups, before game and between periods is the man in net.
If another goaltender skates out first, say between the 2nd and 3rd periods, you'll know there's been a goaltending change between periods.

I thought I knew the answer (continue, Fab Four), but I can't find anything in the NCAA rules (cursory look to be honest) to back it up.
The NHL rules are explicit for that situation:

Any penalties signaled during the period of time between the apparent goal and the next stoppage of play shall be assessed in the normal manner, except when a minor penalty is to be assessed to the team scored upon, and is therefore nullified by the scoring of the goal. Refer to Rules 16.2 and 18.2. If an infraction happens after the first stoppage of play following an apparent goal (infraction after the whistle) by either team, it is assessed and served in the normal manner regardless as to the decision rendered by the Video Goal Judge.

Of course, if the NCAA had a similar interpretation they'd also adopt their "I don't care if you scored, power play anyway!" rule.

It could be completely different in NCAA though. I'd rather see that minors are ignored but anything worse including double-minors, majors, match, misconduct, DQ, are carried out.
