BU at UMass 10/16

Re: BU at UMass 10/16

As soon as one of our players misses the net in warmups.

Sounds about right.

I don't have to give you guys the where-to-sit-at-Mullins-so-you-don't-sit-in-the-student-section speech again this year do I?

Re: BU at UMass 10/16

How big of a lead does UMass need to get before the zoo starts chanting "Overrated"?

-5 goals. I don't think there were any when UMass was winning by -6 in Agganis last season, but when Quirk scored to cut the UMass lead to -5, they started and it was glorious.

well even when we did sit where you told us last year the event staff had to come move us for fear of repercussions from roving students. but im assuming the reserved side will be safe.

No, we sat with the boring old people. They were just as much a-holes as the students half the time. So sad I'll be six hours away from this one.

Re: BU at UMass 10/16

UMass had a 3-0 lead in the 2nd period of last year's game, as we all know how that one ended.

Yeah, I'm a grad student at UMASS now and I remember being in the elevator the next day with one of my professors who's a huge UMASS fan. I asked him how he liked the game. His reply was: "I liked the first half". :D

Re: BU at UMass 10/16

Ah yes, the reason I didn't get to go to BU was because of my terrible spelling.

Well, that and the fact I decided to save $30,000/year and rejected their acceptance. :) :p

Hey, I didn't say you should have come here, just clashed with the point you were making. :D

Re: BU at UMass 10/16

^ I'm sure BU is almost as disappointed about it as I am.

But seriously, I hope BU fans brave enough to come to the Mullins Center are miserable because of the result of the game, not the actions of the home crowd.

I'm surprised to hear that the old people were jerks to a poster above. The only problem I ever had with older folks is when a bunch of them decided to sit in the student section senior night of my senior year and wanted us to all sit down so they could see the game  . Usually, they're the ones complaining about the students.

Whoever said suggested sitting in the reserve section was correct. I doubt you'll face problems there. Unlike Agganis, the Mullins Center usually isn't worried about making you sit in your assigned seat. If you buy a cheaper general admissions ticket and sit in the reserved section, odds are pretty good no one will ever know.

If, on the other hand, you sit in the general admissions section, especially by the students, odds are good something will happen. I'm not proud of it, but those are the facts. The worst I've ever seen was students screaming profanities at visiting fans (something that's happened to me in every rink I've been to besides Volpe and Tsongas).

Just some advice for parents who might not know: Mullins Center probably isn't the best place to bring your kids (for hockey anyway... in my limited experience basketball fans are fine) if you don't want them hearing vulgar language. Think BU before BU stopped organized swearing. They have designated family sections, but with 5000 students chanting in unison you can hear it all around the rink.

well its too bad there aren't more current fans like you. the reserved side last year ended up being mostly fine. but in the past we've had batteries and food thrown at us, we've been stalked to our cars/buses, and a whole laundry list of other things beyond swearing.

is this expected to be a sellout? my group is on the fence about buying tickets early on ticketmaster because of the lame fees but don't want to get screwed when we get there. i know its your homecoming and a big early season game so id assume itll be at or close to capacity, which would make getting a GA ticket and sitting on the reserved side difficult.

Re: BU at UMass 10/16

Slurpees,

Just get there early. Much more likely that late arriving students will be turned away than paying patrons arriving at 6:00 for a 7:00 game...

Wish I was able to be there, but a 10:00 AM Saturday morning meeting in 6 hours away makes it pretty impossible.

Re: BU at UMass 10/16

It should be a good crowd (guessing 6-7K), but I don’t think it will sell out even with it being homecoming weekend

They were mostly just people ****ed off at the outcome as it was happening and verbally taking out their frustration, nothing really that bad. And a few angry BC fans nearby who must have showed up just to root against BU.

Re: BU at UMass 10/16

Slurpees- yesterday there were still tickets available at HAA. They were going to send the unsold back to MC either today or tomorrow. They can leave them here to pick up, or send them along to will call for you there. They are straight $15 - no fee of course.
