Always nice to see a freshman make an immediate impact upon the start of a new season, despite the loss.

UMass fans every reason to be excited, and BU fans have every right to be disappointed. I wouldn't put too much rational stock into last night's outcome, simply given that it's Game 1.

I'm just thrilled it's hockey season again.

AND IT'S OPENING NIGHT IN TRENTON!!! WOOOOO!!!

(btw if any USCHOers want to check out some ECHL hockey and live in NY/NJ/PA let me know, I'd be more than happy to toss you some tix)

Great game. Both teams had great opportunities but didn't capitalize. The one that sticks out the most to me was when James Marcou had the puck and both defenders and Millan were watching him, leaving Wellman with a wide open net. Marcou passed it to Wellman, but Wellman didn't have his stick down and it went through his legs. I thought UMass was going to lose after that one in particular.

But then again, I didn't foresee Gryba scoring on his own net. Whoever posted above, I don't have the best eyes in the world, but I was sitting down towards that end. To me, it looked like the shot went right off his stick. The UMass postgame show said it went off his skate. Either way, he definitely looked really ****ed at himself and either way I shouted "Thank You Gryba!"

EDIT- Not that it matters now, but Millan skated on the ice before the game before the Minutemen did. I thought that was supposed to be a bench minor. Any reason why it wasn't called?

UMass is supposed to be on the ice for warm ups before the game at 38 minutes if they are the home team. Often times the team's lack in this stat, and sometimes even the referees do too. They might have just been late coming out. Also, I don't think anybody really cares especially in warmups, as long as it wasn't like a huge difference, without UMass being at fault for being late.

I wasn't there until after warmups had already started. What I was referring to is right before the starting lineups were introduced. The Mullins Center got dark like it always does, and as soon as it got dark, Millan skated on the ice and got about halfway to the blue line. One of the officials saw him and made him skate back and when he got back off the ice he had his head down. The rest of the BU players waiting to come on the ice tapped him on the helmet in a "don't worry about it" kind of fashion. I thought it was suppose to be a penalty.

Was Millan early for warmups too? If so, how do you screw that up twice in one night? And if he screwed it up twice, how do you not give him a penalty?

The referee was probably afraid for his job if he had called such a ridiculous penalty against Jackie's team.

I hope the last one isn't: "I knew Colby would be the reason we lose this game."

Is it a bad thing that I like the crowd at Lake Whitt now better than the one at Lake ZooMass?

I just want to see us play a real game. And win of course.
