BU '23-'24 Season: Pandomania

I think BU has the talent but they just can't stop doing dumb shit in big games. They can overcome passing to the other team in their own zone, taking stupid penalties and missing wide open nets vs even good teams Iike Maine, but against elite teams that doesn't work. I also agree about the D just isn't good enough. They ran Lane Hutson into the ground and now he looks tired. Otherwise they have a maddening tendency to leave guys wide open on the weak side for easy tap in goals. Did that again tonight .

As much as I don't like BU, the rule where a #4 seed has to host sending a #1 seed to another region is so dumb it's insane
It’s a horrible rule the NCAA sb ashamed of that said BU should suck it up and go win in a very winnable West bracket. BC had the same screwing back in 2011. I would have felt worse if they hadn’t puked on their skates this weekend. Also we may see 3 Hutsons next year he still doesn’t look ready

Just watched the 2 games today as I’ve been on weird overnight schedules. I thought we played hard against BC, but the penalty kill was non-effective obviously and it was the difference. Now, BC just has some extremely talented players and moves it well, but that’s got to change. The PP wasn’t very effective tonight and Fowler was the better goalie again tonight when he needed to be (although Caron played a great game to keep us in it most of the way). It just didn’t go our way starting with that first goal off a skate or body. I am almost sure we will see this team again so buckle up….

On the regional situation, obviously we’re going west. I’ve seen scenarios where we go to Missouri and South Dakota (with no North Dakota, thankfully). We’ll see what the committee decides, but as the 2 overall seed and getting screwed out of going to Springfield, we better get as good a situation as they can give us.

You’ve solved one of (at least) three problems and created a 4th - When is this game? Is it scheduled against one of the 2 games you are trying to highlight, and for which your fans presumably bought advance tickets? It can’t really be a different day considering how 2 leagues schedule around the event.

I get what you are thinking, it’s just against the economic and competitive interests of the schools, leagues, and venues involved, and is also a sneaky disservice to equity. It just sounds kinda neat before failing every other consideration.

Schedule the consolation game the second Monday on the home rink of one of the teams . Nobody but their loyal fans and parents will be interested in going. It won't cannibalize ticket sales for the main event. 5 and 8 PM games. Women's game won't be half empty.

BC power play and goalie too good last night.

If you are going to keep that rule (which I don't like but I understand it) then you need to allow intraconference games in the first round in this scenario. Both rules together are a problem.

Well, would you rather play RIT in Sioux Falls or be given the chance to play UMass in Springfield?

Not sure they are much different. Not much different in pairwise. RIT beat Notre Dame, beat UNH, lost to UNH in OT. Against UMASS there would be lots of BU fans in the building.

Are we still talking about the women’s Beanpot thing? They drew over 10k having their own night at the garden… that’s more than they would get as an opener to the men’s game. Zero reason to make a change here.

I really want to get rid of the men's consolation game but its been noted that you really can't remove a game from a team's schedule and leave them one short. I made that comment because it was noted that there are no conference tournament consolation games anymore.

Obviously disappointed that we lost the game, but I'm not changing my outlook on the potential this team has. The scenario reminds me of when we lost to that powerhouse Maine team in the '93 HE Championship game. I think we lost 5-2 or something, to a team with tremendous talent everywhere, a team that went on to win it all. That BU team was still one of the best in the country and made it to the FF. BC is a wagon and should win the NCAA title unless something goes wrong. If BU can get to MSP, I will consider this a successful season.

I'll never forget years ago as time wound down with UNH about to beat BU at the Garden, a frustrated BU fan a few rows back yelled, "Go home and burn some wood". I turned around, shrugged, smiled and replied, "Okay". lol

My woodstove is going right now : )

Yes, second best in the east and seeded second in Worcester behind Maine. Only need one win to advance to the Frozen Four. Has anyone run a retroactive Paiwise for that season?

So for people who already bought tix for Springfield hoping to see BU, the NCAA schedules BU to play during the same time as the Springfield game. Must decide between watching BU on TV or use the tix for live playoff hockey. Yet Maine, UMass, And Quinn will play in New England with home fans.

Whats up with that dude, easily intimidated by good folks and fans from up here?

I gotta tell you, I’ve always respected Maine fans but this past Friday one yell a racial slur at someone in my group. Who it was wouldn’t own up to it when challenged. A couple in the Maine group did stop by and apologize for their friend ag the end of the game, but it was very disappointing.

Near worst case scenario for BU here IMO. Potential second round game against 2 fanbases that have a drivable trip to Sioux Falls. Less than 3 hours from Omaha. So much for protecting the #1 seeds.
