BU '23-'24 Season: Pandomania

Near worst case scenario for BU here IMO. Potential second round game against 2 fanbases that have a drivable trip to Sioux Falls. Less than 3 hours from Omaha. So much for protecting the #1 seeds.

On the bright side... Beat RIT and could get MN for a revenge game (last year's National Semi.)

So for people who already bought tix for Springfield hoping to see BU, the NCAA schedules BU to play during the same time as the Springfield game. Must decide between watching BU on TV or use the tix for live playoff hockey. Yet Maine, UMass, And Quinn will play in New England with home fans.

Agreed. As someone said previously, BOTH rules together makes this ridiculous. The biggest joke is that purportedly the NCAA takes attendance into “consideration,” yet they

1) play a national regional in a 2,500 seat arena
2) put North Dakota, with the largest traveling fan base, there

And we wonder why the games are joined in progress because of a lacrosse game that has run over?

I repeat my assertion that college hockey is just something that was thrown into the broadcast package when ESPN took the NHL

This would be sweet. Get some redemption and deny Minnesota to getting to St. Paul for a home FF. This would be reminiscent of beating Northern Michigan in 93 and Lake State in 95 to get there. I’m weary of playing Minnesota out west in a regional. The last 2 NCAA games haven’t gone that well (last year and 2012). But, those Minnesota teams were probably much better than this one. Of course we have to get by RIT who I hear is pretty decent, especially in goal.

BC could play Quinnipiac in a regional final - maybe our good friend Vinny can have a monster game against BC and boot them there! It would be quite ironic if we got to the final and had to go up against him there.

Did I mention I really want to go to St. Paul? I’ve been itching to get back there for 30 years now! 1991 was the first FF I attended and it hooked me for life. What a final that was! Also went in 1994 for the no show against the aforementioned Lake State.

I gotta tell you, I’ve always respected Maine fans but this past Friday one yell a racial slur at someone in my group. Who it was wouldn’t own up to it when challenged. A couple in the Maine group did stop by and apologize for their friend ag the end of the game, but it was very disappointing.

Well thats not good to hear and cant claim thats a good fan or person. Theres rot in every group, the few dont define the whole.

Congrats to Cam Crotty who was called up to Arizona and made his NHL debut last night against BU teammate Jake Oettinger. Played on the 2018 Hockey East champs with Jake, Greenway, Tkachuk and Fabbro. 93rd Terrier to reach the NHL.

Leaving out Aiken who is certainly an asterisk who was the first Terrier in the NHL? Ron Anderson?

That Sanford Center out in Sioux Falls looks like a nice modern midsize arena. It holds about over 10,000 for hockey. Too bad hardly anyone supporting BU will be there. I looked and there were like 4 single seats available for each day. I’m sure the place will be flooded with Minnesota and Omaha fans as those campuses are only about 3-4 hours drive. Great to get a road game as the #2 seed in the country. The only good thing about being a 1 seed is you don’t have to face another 1 to win the regional. That’s something I guess.

Anyway, if we advance, it will be the first time out of the West or Midwest. Of course we’ve never been a 1 and sent out there either!

And they only have to pack one jersey as opposed to a home and away!

Had Providence beaten UMass at home in the quarterfinals, or Colorado College gotten something out of one of their losses, the Minutemen would have been out and BU would be in Springfield. But a team that didn't earn home ice for the Hockey East tournament has home ice for the NCAA regional. Something is wrong with that picture. If the NCAA is really so concerned about attendance it would never have selected St. Louis as a host sight.

BU93;n387122} Anyway said:
Under the prior 2 out of 3 at campus sites format up until the Final 4 they did beat MSU in what was considered the “quarterfinals” at Munn Arena in 1990.

OMG that's right!! I remember going to the GSU to watch the game. The University arranged to have it live streamed (or whatever one might call it back in 1990). I wish they would do the same this weekend.

Let’s blame Providence.

My watching of that series:
Game 1: GSU
Game 2: My apartment in Allston
Game 3: Munn Ice Arena :)

I have a different perspective

Do you think BU has a tougher bracket in Springfield or Sioux Falls ?

I think getting to the FF is tougher in Springfield if you had to deal with Maine or Cornell and Denver than RIT, Minnesota/Omaha OR it doesn't matter ??

Its not their NHL contract, its their NCAA college football contract. NCAA pushed them to cover x number of NCAA championships. They only do as much needed to keep the cashcow that is the CFP. The attention brought to the women's NCAA basketball tourney is, in some regard, driven by desire for equity among women athelete's but also whole heartedly joined by ESPN/ABC for any additional money to be made. With some of the big names generating ticket sales and NIL deals making them household names in homes with young girls, that tourney will increase in value. The rest of the championships they cover, they'll do the base minimum to fufill the contract obligations to keep the money from the CFP.

We have four different homes and four different aways, although the standard Red Wings jersey worn for so many years appears to have been taken out of circulation for this year.

Home and Away for:

1. Candy Canes
2. Traditional RedWings like
3. Jersey with the Dog on the front instead of the number
4. 50's (?) Throwback? (the ones we wore this weekend)

I didn't go to every game, but I don't think i saw the Traditional RedWings or the one with the dog face this year at all?
