Thank you Steph Curry!!!!
Thinking about HE awards I got to think you have to split POY with Celebrini and Gauthier with Smith as ROY. Don’t see how any of those 3 can be left out. Hutson will have to settle for first team D. For Hobey probably Gauthier because he’s older. Any way this will be the strongest HE award season in awhile.

I get it, but how could they theorize two freshmen co-POYs then have a *different* freshman of the year? At that point it's becoming a participation trophy. I agree, finding a distinction between Macklin and Cutter in their stats this regular season is almost impossible, so let's just make them both co-POY and ROY. They're unquestionably the two best players in the league and the country.

I look at it the opposite way from Jofa. Celebrini should get the edge over Gauthier because he's younger. Not only younger, he's doing all of this as a 17-year-old.

Zero chatter about playing NU again? You know, other than BC, the only team in Hockey East that gave us trouble this season? How are we feeling Terrier Nation?

My take: It's all good teams from here on out if you want to win a Championship. Why not start now. Bring it!

La la la la la not listening!!!

Seriously, though, now is the time to see if BU has what it takes to kick it into an extra gear. They need to not think that even if they lose tomorrow, they're still OK heading into the NCAAs. Every game needs to be treated as a one and done. Northeastern's season is over if they lose tomorrow, correct? They'll be fired up to ensure that doesn't happen. BU has to want to end them after the games against them this season.

I think there’s definitely some extra motivation to take NU out and end their season. We’ve played them well, the end result hasn’t been there in the last 2. Need to finish off some goals early and make them play from behind to make it a little more comfortable. No softies for Caron.

So the All Hockey East teams are out. Mostly as I expected with Lane and Macklin ( only unanimous selection) on the first team. Willander on the second. But Caron on the third and Hrabal from UMass on the second? Where does that come from? His save percentage isn’t even close to Caron and Fowler in conference and GAA is .3 or .4 higher. I thought it would be down to Fowler and Caron for first team as their in conference stats are almost identical. Where’s Webber - your defensive Defenseman of the year?

If BU cannot beat NU tomorrow, then we won't need to get our hopes too high for the NCAA. We'll be playing very good teams here on out. I welcome seeing Northeastern. BU is long past due to give them a big L. Only downside is that we could see a ton of NU fans at Agganis. Are students on break?

Yes, they are. They come back on Sunday, I believe. Is Northeastern not on break?

As for all the chatter about the HE Awards, people getting left out, etc. - didn't Evan Rodrigues get left of the all the team awards and not even a finalist for PoY? I think he was the second leading scorer in the league behind Eichel. Or something like that.

He was the second leading point scorer in the nation at 61 to Eichel’s 71 and was a second team All HE selection. Not only that, he wasn’t even selected as second team All-American! He should have been an easy first team All-American (in addition to first team all HE). I was there at the Hobey ceremony at Matthews that year when they also announced the All-American teams. I was just sitting there in shock when his name didn’t appear. I thought it had to be some kind of mistake. Now that’s a snub!

On Webber - BU did a good job promoting/pushing the blocked shot record and it made him a shoe-in for the defensive d-man award (he likely would have gotten it anyway). However, without looking back, I am going to guess that it is rare for the winner of the award to make one of the All-conference teams. They tend to want some offensive numbers.

On points and awards (ERod) - I think if he hadn't set the record for biggest one-season improvement and had been a big scorer in the past, voters would have given him more recognition. It was too easy to say that it was due to Eichel that he had so many points. Remember when Pomichter led HE in points and didn't make first team all-conference? He got the last laugh getting first-team All-American. Then there was the year Shawn Walsh couldn't believe that Dave Sacco beat out Jim Montgomery for first team All-conference (or was it All-American?) despite having I think 20 points less. I think the other two forwards were from Maine, so the voters didn't want to make it an All-Maine line. Bottom line - it comes down to more than points sometimes.

On facing NU - now is where the coaching makes the difference. We have a very good coach and I am confident he will have the boys ready to go. Despite the frustrating ending to the BP final, we looked very good against NU in that game for long stretches. NU will certainly be bringing their game, since they are done if they lose. So it will likely come down to goaltending and officiating (egads!).

It should NEVER come down to officiating. Ever, ever, ever. #LosersMentality - If you mean that BU has to play a disciplined game and stay out of the box, then yes, I agree. That will be in an important factor.

RE: Coaching. I was thinking about that yesterday. Jack Parker had a few games where he truly showed his stripes with regards to coaching. (He got killed on her in the end, but he was a damn good hockey coach.) The 1997 National Semi-Final is Exhibit A. Can Jay and his staff take this team to the next level? We shall see.

Not a bad period, but need to find the net. They had a few tips in close that didn’t go. That seems to happen a lot when we jump on a team early. Wish one of these found their way. Seems just like the other games we have played against the. Anyway, keep pressing.

Crowd looks very good.

Well, I was about to say that was a perfect period until that last minute with a 3 goal lead….but I’ll take it!
