BU '23-'24 Season: Pandomania

I know it doesn't usually work out this way but it's a joke to see BC/BU play in first round this year. Not only because the two are so good this year but because Harvard and NU are having uncharacteristically poor seasons.

And whoever decided it was a good idea for these teams to play three times in about a week...nice scheduling.

I thought it was predetermined the scheduling and rotating the teams each year and has nothing to do with standings.

It is a rotation, you can figure out who plays who in the first round 10 years from now, very simple.

Yeah, I think this is true. The only thing I think that can be moved is which team gets the early vs late game. How is home team determined? Coin toss?

Home team is determined by random draw.

In regard to the discussion of top players in the game I am going to disagree on Hutson a bit. He may not be a top 2 here. May sound like heresy to BU fans but although he may be the most outstanding offensive defenseman in the game, he does come with some liability as shown in his -4 +/- rating. All the other players are well in the + category. I would suggest that Eamon Powell may be the #7 player here if we were to add the next one.

It is. But it just sucks that this year you have such a difference between the top two teams and bottom two.

I can’t believe the weekend we are here the green line is closed from North Station to Babcock. Does the MBTA know what weekend this is?

I believe TV gets to pick which is the early and late games on the first night of the Beanpot. Does that sound correct?

They don't' pick the matchup. That's a rotation, as others have said.

Since TV (and common sense) has been a factor, has there ever been a year where BU-BC played the early game in the first round?

I doubt it

BU-BC has only been the early game 3 times 1963 (Harvard defending champs), 1987 (BU defending champs), 1990 (Harvard defending champs), 1987 and 1990 were broadcast on TV, from what I can tell 1963 was not

1987 and 1990 make sense as Harvard had played in the National Championship the year before, winning it in 1989, and losing by a goal in 1986 playing without Hobey Baker winner Scott Fusco who was injured in the semifinal.

One good period, 1 not so good. Unfortunately we didn’t score in our good period. Hopefully we can catch some momentum coming out in the 3rd.

oh thats an interesting stat. 48% of BC goals allowed were third period goals.

Let's do this guys,

Whelp. Win some goalie pulls and lose some ENGs. They went for it at least. Let's whup em tomorrow. Two good teams playing hard.

Well while you are exact in your recollection historically is correct. However correct me if I am wrong but I believe it was recently updated to continue on a exact same rotation, early and late game times and team v team swapping in order each year. So this new trend will continue.
