BU '23-'24 Season: Pandomania

They never pass the puck on a 2 on 1. The goalie squares up and they have no place to shoot it. Right into the pads. Three times tonight

It is not over yet. Now it is over. Sweeping the BU was a little unexpected but BC played very well both nights, so did BU. I think they will meet more than 3 times this year.

Well atleast there will be no debating anymore who the better team is. BC was better in all aspects of the game including coaching and intangibles. I think you will
see more of the same in Beanpot. I don’t know what the official stats show but it seems they were ahead for 75% of the 120 minutes. BU had no answer for the BC FR line who scored 4 goals . BU doesn’t have a dominant line like that. Lane came up as small as his stature. I don’t think they can pass BC in pairwise now short of BC going into a slump.

Two wins are two wins but I don't see it as a gulf between the teams. Gonna be extremely difficult for BC to win a 3rd straight time against you in about a week.

BU was good early in the first but then took some bad penalties. Really, Zabaneh looked like he should have gotten a penalty in between the two they did call..

Just my opinion but I think BC has the better goalie.

When you keep Lane Hutson and Celebrini off scoresheet till 2 minutes left on Saturday you're doing something right.

These teams playing in the Pot, HE tournament and then NCAAs would be the death of me.

Totally agree. A couple of hit posts go in last night and it could have been a different game. Tonight, I think you would have to be a real BC homer to not admit that BU outplayed them. Fowler was the difference. I'll take the win however it comes, but it is going to be very difficult to beat a team as good as BU three straight times.

BC’s D-zone structure is so solid. I lost count how many times a BC kid got a stick on a shot attempt. And Fowler is the real deal. BU’s gotta stop shooting glove side on him.

BC is just better. Right now. Let’s see how it plays out. This team is going to win big games.

They picked a hell of a time for their mid- to late season swoon. What a disappointing weekend.

I thought BU outplayed BC tonight but Fowler was the difference. BC was outshout 2x1 at one point and was making a lot of mistakes in their zone. BU also got 5 straight penalties from BC and BC hung in there until Gauthier made it 3-2 and then 4-2 later.

I agree that Fowler outplayed Caron, and that was the difference overall (and Caron played very well). Need more shots when the shooter sees the goaltender 15 feet and in. I think someone mentioned the dangle through 3 players - not happening at this level of play- waste of time. Shots on net, go to the net. Our odd man rushes were atrocious most times, and when we played it right, Fowler made the save every time on the weekend. Tips and rebounds at the net - not bad, but again Fowler made all of those saves.

So, we’re tied in the standings. Let’s see how it plays out from here. Like Jay said, the effort is certainly there. We had 2 great starts to those games, but never took the lead all weekend - that stings.

One last comment. I’m not able to make many games in person since I live down in FL. When I do go, it’s usually this series. That was the loudest and most enthusiastic crowd I have been a part of since moving to Agganis. My complements to the students and the band - they were superb! As for BC - see you in the Beanpot - I wouldn’t want to be in your position having taken both these games and trying to win a 3rd in a row. Go BU!

As I am fairly indifferent when it comes to both programs I can perhaps be a little more objective. Both teams played fairly good hockey and both games were competitive and fun to watch. These teams are likely correctly in a dog fight for the #1 and #2. However, after watching both games, I believe BC has slightly more depth, better freshman and executes in a more concise manor. I liked their neutral zone thoughtfulness. Lastly, as mentioned Fowler was the key. Expect a great Beanpot opener. Still anybody's hockey's game. Also BU needs to perhaps pass one less time in the ozone and just take advantage of some odd angle screens and let some shots fly when the lane isn't clear and see what happens.

Gauthier's goal stunned BU, the ice was tilted in their favor at that point and then go into the locker room one down was tough to take. Tuck and LaChance are real loads, wow. They get in front of the net and you need a D9 to move them. The parade to the penalty box was really bad, but Posmer, Armstrong and Gasseau and Gauthier were up the task. Agree on Fowler, he was able to find the puck. Both teams are solid but as noted BC has a little bit more throughout the lineup. I think the excitement and interest in these games is going to bring more really high end talent to each school. Both have always recruited NHL talent level players but we are now talking about another level of skill. (first round skill) What elite player would not want to play on Comm Ave? Everyone else in HE should take note.

BU outplayed BC and Fowler was the big difference. I would not be so cocky that this will always being the case.

Fowler being better than Caron? I am confident in that but I agree, these were one goal games this weekend where BU never even had a lead. Could be a completely different story if they grab the first goal in the Beanpot. I hope we're all prepared for a potential redux of 2006 but with an NCAA matchup coming in the FF!
