Game wasn’t sold out. Saw empty seats. Still, great crowd for the night before New Years, fun atmosphere and an exciting OT win. I enjoyed it.

It was announced as a sell-out on social media earlier today.

That could have been a very frustrating L had they not pulled it out. How many breakaways? Posts? 2 on 1’s not cashed? The Harvard goalie is very good. Commesso was also excellent. Great to be back in the old barn with a full house.

Non sequitur: Sunset Cantina doesn’t serve any draft beer!!? I mean their whole model was “we have more beer than anyone, ever.”

Non sequitur #2: Strange that the BU bookstore was so much nicer my freshman year than it is now. What’s the plan there? Or perhaps in 2022 nobody cares.

Agreed. I miss the old BU bookstore. Do college kids even have books anymore, or is everything via PDFs?

I pay for my kids' books, but I don't even know.

And kudos to the Harvard goalie for keeping them in it. Could've easily been 5 or 6 to 1. Some of the best saves I've seen all season. He's a playah!

One thing lost in the Fensore OT goal was Matt Brown’s phenomenal play to strip the Harvard player of the puck as he was streaking towards the goal and get the puck back up the ice. Great speed and a heads up play without committing a penalty.

excellent point as Harvard player had position on him. Think Brown has been our best forward all year- great speed- has enchanced his pro chances while others have slipped

Unfortunately I was unable to attend - would have loved to see one in WBA again. Hopefully it’s something they do every so often.

Box Score attendance was listed as 3,277. Is capacity sill 3,806? Or did that get reduced over the years?

I also wonder how many season ticket holders claimed tickets but did not attend…that could account for the sellout and empty seats.

It wasn't just announced as a sell-out - I went onto Ticket Monster just in case and it showed it as "Sold Out, no tickets available".

Agreed. Also, his pass off the boards to Skoog right after he made that great defensive play was not an easy play - had to get the timing and angle right to hit Skoog in stride.

One more quick comment. Fensore is a huge weapon 3x3. Glad he’s on our side.

He, Brown and Commesso are emerging as the "Big Three" for this team. Fensore is looking a lot like Farrance, but I think he is even better defensively. His defense actually reminds me of Grzyelck - he uses his stick very effectively and knows when to pinch.

Very surprised that BU's game highlights video didn't show Brown's strip of Sean Farrell, Harvard's top forward. But The Boston Hockey Blog posted a clip of the entire play. Didn't whether the play was on SportsCenter.

More like a "Big Four." Gone for one game and Lane Hutson is forgotten. :-)
Fensore's last 7 games: 6G, 4A, 3 GWGs. Another Defender of the Month award for BU?

They didn't use the old Section N (bleacher seats on the far end). That is probably a few hundred right there.

I know of 2 season ticket holders that waited until yesterday to get their tickets. They were given standing room only tickets.

Fantastic college hockey game. Can’t say enough good things about Pandolfo and his staff. They have really done a great job getting this team ready to play. The effort and positioning is vastly improved.

Agree with everyone- great effort coming off the layoff. For most of the game we put on a clinic against a very good Harvard team. We should have had at least 4 or 5 if not for the goaltending. Can’t remember the last time we had that many breakaways and odd man rushes. Good shots off those too. Walter Brown seemed to suit our game well. Things happen more quickly than Agganis and we can turn a play the other way with the best of them. We also get back on D quickly. Pandolfo said he secretly wished we still played there and even Fensore said in the post game he wished we played more there. Some of it is the atmosphere, but maybe we think about modifying Agganis to WBA dimensions, which I think is the standard 200 by 85? Wish I was there to see it. It’s nice and probably necessary to have a modern world class arena, but I miss the coziness and deafening noise of the old place. Had some great times there.

As I’m settling in to watch the Winter Classic, the following question popped into my head: Did Mike Sullivan and Jim Montgomery face each other in college? I know that Mike was ‘90 and Jim was ‘93.

Presumably, as the their teams played one another four times in 1989/90, with Maine winning three, losing the fourth in OT.
