Nate Leaman has a national title. So does Keith Allain. Norm Bazin is a better coach than both of them. Opinion, not fact. Obviously not talking historically here but I do think there's a strong case that he is currently the best coach in college hockey.
The guy took over a program that hadn't been in the NCAA tournament since '96. A program that never had back to back tourney appearances. A program that won FIVE games the season before he took over and he won
24 games and made the tournament with someone else's players. Win totals:
24
28
26
21
25
26
Three league championships and five straight league championship game appearances. Yes, he needs to win a national title to boost his resume even more but without it I think he still might be the best coach in college.
Another great year by norm. Adding to that frozen for win total. Let's see including today's game ......that would still be zero total frozen four wins. Best coach in the nation and yet unable to win a frozen four game. Unable to beat a number four seed in basically a home game 30 miles from his arena. Yes we should all aspire to be as good as UMass Lowell.
