BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

It is my understanding that premium seats have always been marketed with the option to buy Beanpot tickets. I still have the marketing material from when they were pre-selling the premium seats while HAA was being built. At that time they had three premium seat levels, Player, Varsity (now the only level) and Olympic. Both Varsity and Olympic included the option to by Beanpot tickets. Currently the Agganis Arena website list of premium club amenities includes "Preferred option to purchase tickets for Beanpot and Terrier hockey postseason tournaments".

Sean

But not when they began the TLP program. That stated that all seats were to be distributed by your standing in the program.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

It is "athletic giving" now. A change from when they started and it was FoH.

Makes the difference from loge then to balcony now for beanpots.

Frozen four got hit in 2009 cause brownie pulled a chitload of tickets for his use. Then of course everyone eligible wanted theirs. This yr being in town will be even worse.
I was in the top 10% for 2009 and got some. But again how they distribute is a closed formula. I knew people there who have less pts than me but had better seats. (I had already bought seats and used one of my season tickets for my middle kid who sat with me and the oldest across two seats in the lower bowl and gave the extra to a student I met up with on campus before heading down)

I think that makes sense... ultimately all this money comes out of the same Athletic money pot anyway... where you donate to is likely more symbolic.

Agreed this year Frozen Four (assuming we get there) may be the time where all this matters a lot. I should check on my points. :)

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

This may have been on another thread so perhaps you didn't see it, but I said that it's not about me...it's a "collective" thing. When you say "some" people may be inconvenienced, those individuals "somes" add up to a lot. The NCAA obviously doesn't care what I think, most likely because the revenue for this is derived from football, basketball and TV (and probably everything is included in one contract with the stipulation that they "have to" carry college hockey as part of the agreement). I'm just saying that there is no incentive for them to attempt to insure good attendance. I'm going to find a way to go...personally, (as I already alluded to when discussing last weekend's event at TD Garden), I don't enjoy going to a game with 3/4 of the arena empty. It just is not as fun of an experience. But I don't understand your overall point. Nothing is absolute in life. I'm not using the word "every" in regard to anything. I'm saying "more" fans that go to the West regionals, due to the larger distances, have to stay overnight, meaning they are not commuting. So if they have to do that ANYWAY, why not put the games where people CAN commute on days where they are more likely to be able to go (like the weekend)? I don't understand what is so difficult to comprehend about that? I get more annoyed that people like you RESIST (or just plain don't get) what I am saying!

Bolded content is what is making my eye twitch. Do you think that the fans of teams in the Midwest Regional in Fargo will be traveling there on Saturday, the day of their games? And since they have to travel and take the day they could've played Friday at 2pm?They will all have to travel to get to Fargo, even UND fans as a lot live in the MSP area. If what you say came to fruition and that regional Fri/Sat, those fans that have to travel will have to take two days off, not one. Minnesota and Duluth fans, if any that might come this weekend, will have to do that to ensure they arrive for the 2pm start. There is no magic wand here to ensure attendance at all of them. The NCAA Regionals are either March 27/28 or March 28/29. They schedule them to ensure each game has its own ability to be watched as much as they can. It's not 100%. To do that, they need to schedule them the way they have. Then it's Selection Sunday and your school is placed based on their seedings. If BU was the number one seed overall, we might not be having this conversation. For you to say they should make the regionals in locations where people can commute on the weekends is not possible because not every school in our region can commute. In fact, BU is probably the only one.

Maybe you are talking about this year specifically, but in general terms, most hockey east schools, plus a handful of ECAC schools and Atlantic Hockey schools could easily do a day trip to a regional in Manchester, Worcester or Providence.

It is obvious that regional attendance is lower on the priority list than not having games overlap, otherwise saturday / sunday games would be easier for almost everyone to attend across the board.

<b><i><u>Well that's because there are mostly WESTERN schools in our regionals, since more teams from the WEST made the tournament. (is there a way to make this print red?)</u></i></b>

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

I'm done with this. This is ludicrous. You win. I don't want to play anymore. I have a life.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

It looks like there are thousands of tickets available as of right now. I wonder if each schools allotment that does not get bought up, will be added back into the pool on top of the ones shown as available?

It looks as if there are several sections without even a single ticket sold yet.

I'm sure everyone is right though. Friday 2:00PM is a great way to maximize attendance. :D

Thank you. You can carry the banner...I'm just tired of arguing. Enjoy the games and GO BU!!!

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Any thoughts or insights on the glum reaction from the BU players when they learned that Yale was their 1st Round opponent?

Regarding your claim attendance would increase on Saturday just look at last year. The Friday games in Bridgeport (with 2 and 5:30 games) had a total attendance of 6529 and the Saturday games in Worcester had a total attendance of 6522. Bridgeport had one team in "commuting distance" while Worcester had two teams in "commuting distance", yet the Friday attendance was as good as the Saturday attendance. Here is the attendance for the first day of the 2 eastern regionals back to 2009 with Friday start times:
Code:
Year Friday Friday Friday Saturday
        2-4:30 3-6:30 4:30-8
2014 6529 6522
2013 8049 6253
2012 5090 5925
2011 7671 7608
2010 4073 6572
2009 8478 6883
The worst Friday attendance was in 2010 in Albany, which had no local team with fans able to commute. Best was in 2013 with the latest start times, and it was also better than the games on Saturday at the other eastern regional. In fact, in 4 of the 6 years the regional starting on Saturday had lower first day attendance. These attendance figures do not support the claim that more fans can make it to the Saturday games.

A heck of a lot better than if they were laughing and hollering. A lot more likely that means they're taking them seriously, as they should. This Lyon kid sounds like one of the best goalies we'll have faced all season.

Nice work Sean, but please do not confuse this group with people who are interested in facts! ;)

When did the TLP program start? I don;t recall, but HAA has been open for over 10 years, so premium seat holder have been at the front of the line for that long.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Last point on the whole date thing - I think the only real legitimate beef is the start time. It's entirely plausible that the games can be 4:30/7:30 in both regions on Friday to allow more time for everyone to get there. Two o'clock in the afternoon is unnecessarily stupid.
