Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Thanks! You just reminded me I need to call my friend in Highlands Ranch to give her a hard time about DU. :D
Highlands Ranch is about stone's throw from where I am. Go easy on her though, we are playing BC after all! Man I'm craving some tournament success for DU. It's been a rough last ten years since '05.

I should really get to know more of you..

Since bu phd referred to me as "creepy" the other day this should be a generic 'you' :)

Have you joined Friends? This helps with your points more than a regular season ticket holder.

Do most of you know your point totals? Do any of you?

This lack of awareness is my main beef with them. It is truly a mess over there.
Best to treat it like sausage making :)

I know...she grew up in Littleton. Not a problem...personally I think you have a great chance against BC. You probably should be just as worried about Miami. :)

I have not joined friends of hockey, but I am in the friends group to the sport I participated in while at BU. Donations to that group and other athletic donations also help build up your "loyalty points" total. I don't know exactly how the formula works though.

I remember getting a letter a couple or few years ago with my points total, but have not seen anything since and am not sure how to find out. I searched around the Agganis website after I logged in but I could not find any link to that info on there.

Since selecting seats upon moving into Agganis, how much do the points really matter? Are people getting closed out of away games, beanpot or playoff / NCAA games? I'd guess that this upcoming Frozen Four (if we even make it) would be the first time that the loyalty points actually really matter (apart from perhaps seat location at the beanpot).

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

chickod, you make it sound like every fan that goes to a western regional flies there, and all at the same time. That is absolutely not the case. People there have to travel greater distances than us and maybe they can't take two days off to get there. I'm sure the NCAA knows that timing of all these games will make it difficult for large crowds but they have a schedule to build and it's about the teams competing. Every fan knows this was Regionals weekend which means you're at the mercy of the draw. I took Friday off months ago because if they made it I wanted to make sure I could go.

Do you get this annoyed whem you want to go to Opening Day but can't because its scheduled for 1pm?

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Welcome aboard! ;) I'm likely more "middle of the road" as far as season ticket holders... This was the 21st year I think. In 112 along the aisle with 113. My kids are the same... its prob a healthier attitude. LOL. To them, BU is their favorite team, BC their second and Maine their third.

Someone get DSS on the phone! We need to get these kids into a Foster home stat!!!!!

:)

It was actually pretty funny... we went to the BU/BC game with a BC family. All the kids decided they hoped that it ended in a tie.

I'm trying very hard to suppress an "Everybody gets a trophy" rant. I'm proud of the fact my kid hates BC more than Liver and Onions. Work on that ericredaxe. Terrier Nation is counting on you.

Gosh some of you will complain about anything. It's at 2 because of TV, it is what it is. You can't have every game being played at exactly the same time, ESPN won't let them do it, and frankly that'd be a bad idea. There's only so many people they can accommodate, it can't be every fan of every team who works on this side of the city and may be able to get out of work, in this specific location. Could it be a bit better? Sure, but don't forget they have to accommodate the players and teams too. You do realize it's an advantage to be in the first game in that the winner gets more rest than the winner of the second team. With the logistics of what's being organized, it is what it is. At least we only have to travel ~50 miles and have a chance to see our team play. I feel bad for those fans whose team is going 1,000+ miles away and they can't afford a flight to see their team's most important games.

This. Thank you.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

You are covered then ERA.

The formula was changed a couple years ago and is:

Total giving in your life (2pts per $100)
Consecutive yrs since 2010 fy (5pts per yr)
Total yrs prior to 2010 fy (5 per yr)
----this was to encourage you to NEVER FORGET :)

Total yrs of season tickets of either;
Men's hockey
Women's hockey
Men's basketball
Women's basketball (2 pts per each yr)

Then BU alum (10pts)
Former BU student athlete (10pts)

Then if you set up a planned or estate gift (20pts)

These are used for all tickets. Away games. Beanpot. Hockey east. Regionals. Frozen four.

But again. One has to ask for their points. I do because I've found mistakes 2-out of every-3 years. Plus they circumvent this new system often--such as when they had trouble moving premium seats they allowed those buying them to jump the line for beanpot tickets.

The StPaul kids are being raised the same way. None of that "Go BC, bring the trophy back to our conference!" weirdness either.

By the way, BU gives me points for raising kids right. Make sure the alumni office knows your methods. :D

Mookie would pull for Al Qaeda if they played hockey against the igles (ok, probably not.... but you get the idea).

Good to know. I should call and get my points update. I think that donations to other sports "count" towards your points slightly less than FOH, but I'm not 100% sure.

Other than the Frozen Four, is the demand for any of these tickets such that all this even matters?

Nahh.. I think its cooler to let them make their own decisions on what teams they like and cheer for. Just because my wife and I are BU / Bruins / Red Sox / Duke Hoops fan does not mean they have to be. Of course taking them to these games helps steer them in that direction.

This may have been on another thread so perhaps you didn't see it, but I said that it's not about me...it's a "collective" thing. When you say "some" people may be inconvenienced, those individuals "somes" add up to a lot. The NCAA obviously doesn't care what I think, most likely because the revenue for this is derived from football, basketball and TV (and probably everything is included in one contract with the stipulation that they "have to" carry college hockey as part of the agreement). I'm just saying that there is no incentive for them to attempt to insure good attendance. I'm going to find a way to go...personally, (as I already alluded to when discussing last weekend's event at TD Garden), I don't enjoy going to a game with 3/4 of the arena empty. It just is not as fun of an experience. But I don't understand your overall point. Nothing is absolute in life. I'm not using the word "every" in regard to anything. I'm saying "more" fans that go to the West regionals, due to the larger distances, have to stay overnight, meaning they are not commuting. So if they have to do that ANYWAY, why not put the games where people CAN commute on days where they are more likely to be able to go (like the weekend)? I don't understand what is so difficult to comprehend about that? I get more annoyed that people like you RESIST (or just plain don't get) what I am saying!

It is my understanding that premium seats have always been marketed with the option to buy Beanpot tickets. I still have the marketing material from when they were pre-selling the premium seats while HAA was being built. At that time they had three premium seat levels, Player, Varsity (now the only level) and Olympic. Both Varsity and Olympic included the option to by Beanpot tickets. Currently the Agganis Arena website list of premium club amenities includes "Preferred option to purchase tickets for Beanpot and Terrier hockey postseason tournaments".

One would think "...BC SUCKS, SIEVE!” would be enough for any kids.

It is "athletic giving" now. A change from when they started and it was FoH.

Makes the difference from loge then to balcony now for beanpots.

Frozen four got hit in 2009 cause brownie pulled a chitload of tickets for his use. Then of course everyone eligible wanted theirs. This yr being in town will be even worse.
I was in the top 10% for 2009 and got some. But again how they distribute is a closed formula. I knew people there who have less pts than me but had better seats. (I had already bought seats and used one of my season tickets for my middle kid who sat with me and the oldest across two seats in the lower bowl and gave the extra to a student I met up with on campus before heading down)

I'm with you Chickod.

I also think the comparisons between college hockey regionals and NCAA March Madness, Red Sox opening day etc are ridiculous. Last I checked neither of those had ongoing attendance issues. BUT, I suppose if the NCAA does not care about attendance at these events, then why should I?
