Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Speaking of shoddy reporting, Scott W in his recap of the game:

"With 63 points, Eichel is within one point of matching the scoring total of Paul Kariya when the Maine standout became the last freshman to win the Hobey in 1992-93."

Well if 1 point = 37 points, then sure.

I think what he meant to say was: one more point would tie Eichel with the most freshman points SINCE Paul Kariya had 100 (89:D).

There are a few stats that anyone who has been a hockey fan for more than 10 years should know, and I think Kariya's 100 (89) is one of them.

Just to prove I'm an equal opportunity nit picker... Scott wrote:

BU had two good chances to make it a two-goal game early in the third. Amid a scrum at 1:20, Ahti Oksanen flipped a backhander just high and wide of the net with Tirone down. Then Greer was stopped once more on his second breakaway of the game at 5:48.

Actually, a UNH kid (I'm too lazy to look up who. :) ) got a piece of Ahti's backhand that was going into an empty net. It was a great defensive play. I thought Ahti missed it as well, but then saw the replay on the big board.

BC and Providence are in Providence, facing Miami.

And somewhere in Oxford, the entire Miami hockey team just peed down their leg. :) :)

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

I thought the penalty call on Baillargeon was horrid. The interference on Diffley was pretty weak too, in my opinion. Yes, he got in his way, but it right after the forward dumped the puck in. Playing the body when the player doesn't have the puck affords a time cushion of sorts, or "finishing your check" would be a penalty every time.

Did Eichel make any comments about his hit into the boards after the game (now I'm being lazy)? The angle of his head hitting the glass was eerily reminiscent of Travis' injury. And with the delay of him dropping to the ice, I was really concerned about a concussion. The broadcast mike's caught his "what the f was that!" shout to the ref as he skated back up ice.

BU got one gift. The interference call in the corner in the third was iffy. The puck was right there. But overall, for a HE officiated game, it wasn't horrid. (Put that on a t-shirt!)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. BU or Miami: Who does the tournament committee hate more? The best scenario somehow involves BC taking a long flight somewhere.

I wonder if Quinn was planning on plugging Piccinich in tonight for one of the 4th liners, and if so, did/will their hard working goal change his mind?

She's the girl who walks around the Garden with a wireless microphone and picks people out of the crowd to ask trivia questions to during timeouts and such. It's up on the big screen above. I will make no comments regarding other "attributes."

This post is both a bit creepy and totally in character.

The top three goal scorers in 2009 had a total of 63 goals.
This year 2, 9, and 10 have 66 -- and that's in 9 fewer games.
So in 2009 the top three were scoring 1.4 goals per game. This year it's 1.83.
Of course the championship team had depth--seven players in double figures, with only four (so far) now. Still, we've been witnessing quite a show.

Do you mean Phelp's tally? Not exactly a tap-in.

Yeah, tap in was a figurative term, it wasn't a Jason Lawrence goal, he got great position, good wood on it, and picked his spot well. Greer skated very well last night. Being able to get in a position to take a shot on his second breakaway required a lot of strength and hard skating to get past the UNH defender.

She is definitely easy on the eyes and yesterday, more than usual. It really hurts the UML faithful to see her when she's working for the Garden/HEA instead of UML and promoting the opponent as well as our team.

Looking at Scott McLaughlin, who took a look at the brackets, if everything ended today (or maybe if the higher seeds win), BU goes to Manchester, joined by Quinnipiac. Colgate and Denver are the other two teams. BC and Providence are in Providence, facing Miami.
I think they have to split BU and BC for attendance in another year BC would be out West but they are needed at these venues
